Hey guys, Rex here. So, don't know if you guys heard the news, but Arken Optics has changed hands recently. learned of this, think, after it happened. So, I'm not like privy to all the insider information like some of you might think. mean, hear things, have indication of things that are going down or whatever, but it's very common in the in the industry for people to sell companies or adjust things, sometimes even legacy brands change hands. That's kind of how the world works, right? It's happened with every company you can think of that's been around for little while. It's pretty normal, okay? So, when that happens, though, one of the questions that arises is how is stuff going to actually change? Cuz there's usually new, slightly new direction or new vision sometimes that gets implemented, sometimes the manufacturing base changes, the quality parameters. But, am going to see what happened with the optics because know that that's product that talked lot about in the past, and I'm just really curious to see how they're doing, if you know, if anything has changed. Okay. All right, we're digging out the old EP5 7-35, and we're going to compare it to the brand new one. And was asked to check and see if noticed any difference in optical quality specifically, but I'm going to give it complete run through on the brand new ones that just came in. So, stand by. So, here is the old EP5 Gen 2 7-35 by 56. It is great scope, but the brand new one Okay. Let's get the parallax adjusted first off. I've got the 7-35 here. Pretty gosh darn close to good. I'm back off and just see. So, what I'm doing is I'm looking at infinity, getting behind the reticle. This one will need to be back bit. That was better. Close. So, get my eyes focused way out there at thousand or farther. Should be immediately in focus. You know, when I'm older, this is way easier to notice cuz my eyes are really slow to adjust. Young guys, that deal's hard. Trying to adjust the ocular cuz your eye adjusts so quick when you're young. Mhm, pretty close. There we go. Perfecto mundo. Okay. Now, we're going to bring her down to the target board here, okay? And we're going to get that kind of put there. I'm going to adjust my parallax to approximately the distance, and I'm going to level this out here. ish Okay, I'm going to I'm not looking for focus necessarily, I'm looking for movement of the reticle when the optic is perfectly steady and I'm moving my head just little bit. Okay, so can eliminate little bit there. So, I'm moving my head. Trying to find the sweet spot. No, that's worse. That's very close. There we go. Hohoho, perfect. So, this one to get it perfectly in focus at 25 dialed the 25 and it was perfectly in focus. So, that's good. Good job, okay? parallax is good. Ocular is good. I'm now going to get this cranked up little bit. Man, that's clear. Very clear. Significantly more clear than the last one checked, okay? So, that's actually nice. Looking at the target board, that All right, hold on. Think we're good. Let's try test. So, I'm going to dial to 10. See where she lands. Really? Well, that's good news. That's good. It's perfect. Exactly. It's cutting the tiny, tiny red dot right in half. that's good. Makes Let me make sure it's true. am relieved. You never know. You never know what could happen, right? Yeah, that's perfect. Let's come up to 20. Damn. Okay. Well, that's really good news. So, was expecting this to be off by 1 or 2%. Just based on anxiety, okay? So, I'm going to dial back down to 10. Perfect. Exactly perfect. I'll have the video tape for you guys so you can see it. All right. All right. So, I'm going to try to get this behind this so our tracking is exactly perfect. Perfectly exactly perfect. Stand by. There's zero right there. There's 10. There's 20 mils right there. That's exactly perfect. There's 10. There's zero. 10 power Now, it's hard to film this through the iPhone, and could use scope cam mount, but that will change things little bit cuz there's prisms and stuff in there. And don't want to if we're doing optical clarity test, and I'm going to come up to 16. Let's crank her up to max power here. So, how fine can see? Three distinct cycles. Okay, can definitely see those three right there. So, that's What would that be? That's that inner box. All right. The numbers are so fine, need magnifying glass to read it. And how many numbers is that? Several hours later. Mhm, okay. I'm not seeing as sharp with this this one. So, they must have changed something in the ocular. It is little sharper. Mhm. 2.0, so it's like two Excuse me. So, am seeing with this other one, 2.0. Same magnification, same exact settings. That's such an old one. All right, yeah. 25 power with that one there. So, the new one, the brand new EP5 Gen 2 is significantly, numerically, seeing at higher degree of direct read resolution through the entire optical system side by side with the old one, which is awesome. love the old one. That thing works great, but it's actually clear. And the color is different, too. That's the part that I'm trying to figure out. For whatever reason Excuse me. For whatever reason the new one is brighter in terms of it's more accurate color rendition. This one is looking It's picking up more of the the warm colors. But like significantly. That's the main thing I'm noticing in difference. So what I'm observing here is got new shipment of the EP5 Gen 2 7-35 by 56. Arken Optics did recently change hands. And so didn't know what to expect. sometimes stuff changes in terms of manufacturing, quality control, components, things like that. Sometimes they can get better, sometimes they get worse. This particular optic here, the EP5 Gen 2 7-35 by 56. have one from when they came out. What would would that been? year or two ago? You got the brand new one off the boat. And the new one sees more clearly. It's got better optic optical resolution. So and that's number that's not an opinion. That is absolutely quantifiable because the control is my eyeball and use my eyeball like this when I'm looking through the scope. have defined vision limit. It's the tool is consistent from one scope to the other. Just to explain how this works. know this could be kind of confusing to some people that don't want to embrace the reality. But my eye is constant between one scope and the other. The environment is constant. It was the exact same. They're sitting right next to each other. Got this one here, that one right there. Same lighting, same exact distance, same exact target, practically the same angle. mean, we're both just couple feet apart here. These two optics side by side. And the brand new EP5 7-35 is significant reading clear in terms of optical resolution cycles per millimeter by quantifiable, measurable amount by an objective standard. Not just how it feels, not what it seems like, but what guy can actually measure. Now don't know exactly why the color is so different. did did notice upon testing the EP5 originally that of course when you're on 35 power stuff darkens bit. And it looks, you know, maybe it'll change kind of how just still not necessarily more blurry, but stuff will appear darker. I'm noticing that on this older one on 35 power. The other one is actually very clear at 35 power. I'm going to try to get So why does guy not use scope camera while doing this testing and evaluation? Because scope camera is limited to all sorts of glitchy focuses that do not control on the screen, that will not notice on the screen. Getting perfect focus is finicky. That little digital focusing technology inside your iPhone is going to pick slightly different spots to exactly focus on each time. You move it from one to the other depending on whatever the scope camera. It's not going to be perfectly consistent. Now, it's going to take some time It just adds another mechanical variable. Whereas the human eyeball is actually very, very consistent compared to the focus on an iPhone as controlled by your little finger pinching it and trying to get it to focus, okay? I've been doing this for lot of years. know that that's in fact true because I've filmed lot through optics using variety of means. The most consistent reading is always your eyeball. You're going to actually see what's going on through the scope only with your eyeball. You add another layer of lenses and it's you're not as intuitively going to also aligning the camera perfectly behind that optic is not possible when you're dialing. When you dial that place where the light is coming out out of the ocular that would adjust your eyeball is moving up and down as you dial up and down. Did you know that? Some people do not still know that. So you know, as you dial up and down it's going to change unless the freaking camera's moving up and down with as you're dialing. It's going to change the clarity and all sorts of stuff is going to change. It's going to change the parallax. And then the angle of how you're looking through it. So it's going to give you false reading in other ways that you might not anticipate. So to make long story short I'm pleasantly surprised that the EP5 Gen 2 has been slightly improved after the change over. That that's kind of surprising. didn't know. mean get Not no offense. just don't know the other guys. So now know what they're what they're doing is they're continuing to improve on the technology and they're continuing to try to refine it and keep it better. The tracking was perfect on the EP5. It was good. So man, Arken was great product before and is continuing to demonstrate its quality and it is this brand new one at least does see little more clearly. And you can't get any more accurate tracking than dead on balls perfect tracking. So no complaints on the brand new EP5 7-35. Now tested one brand new model. But for whatever it's worth, man it is seeing more clearly than the other one. I'll leave the actual numbers below so you can review them. I'll give you little bit of mathematical rundown on how big of difference that is, okay? And you guys let me know what you think. If you have any questions let me know. All my old links made sure are still active. If you have any problems with that, let me know. The link will give you the very best deal available online today. And those links are set to adjust to whatever the best deal is online. You don't have to go looking around for it. Just use the Rex link. It'll automatically take you to the very best deal that's available anywhere online for your ease of trying to figure out what's the best, most efficient way to get that done. And of course it does support the channel and the operation and do appreciate it. So if you're looking for decent long range optic that's not going to be ridiculously expensive, that's actually very much worth every dollar. that's good choice and wouldn't go for that like once you get above 25 power, it's starts getting pretty sketchy with most outfits. Even high-end outfits have hard time executing that. These guys did good job. They did very, very good job. And over 25 power they even got 35 power scope that actually works fine. So if you have any questions, let me know. I'm here to help you guys. and you guys have wonderful weekend. Rex out.
