139 3 D LED Hologram Fan – Worth the Hype or Overrated

Today we're checking out something I've only seen online. 3D LED holographic fan. The blade width for this unit is 17.9 in and supports iOS, Android, and PC application is available. You'll use Wi-Fi to connect to the fan, and it has remote as well as Bluetooth audio support. I've always wondered what these look like up close, so let's power it on and see if it lives up to the hype. I'm John and welcome to Wagner's Tech Talk. I've been seeing number of videos on my social feeds for these 3D LED hologram fans. They look cool in the videos, but what are they like in person? picked up this one for $139. I'll place links below if you're interested. After few days, it arrived. The outside of the box doesn't have much going on. Inside the box, you'll find thank you card for registration, do not touch fan sticker, which as fast as the blades are moving, it could certainly do some damage, and manual, which includes more information than most. The base of the fan is here. There is micro SD card pre-installed with some sample images. It also has mounting bracket. And here is where we'll install the fan blades. Notice that two of each side is marked as and the other as The blade goes in the side. And the same with the There is mini remote included. Just remove the battery protection sheet and it's good to go. Also included is 24volt power adapter with 2 amps of output and barrel connector on one end as well as standard three-prong power cable which is also included. There is mounting bracket and some screws. Along the back side of the packaging, you'll find the four fan blades. Each is clearly marked as either or On the larger end, you'll find the small connector that will connect to the fan housing. From the instructions, it looks like we just installed two screws into each blade. That seems easy enough. Take the fan assembly and set it up so you can see the two and markings. Then take the side, line up the connector from the blade to the fan, and give it little push and screw in one of the screws to hold it into place. Repeat for the opposite side Then do the same for the side and the opposite side of Make sure you installed all eight screws into the fan blades and that they're good and tight. The bracket that comes with it doesn't fit standard tripod mount, which was bit of bummer. Here I'm demonstrating what not to do. got lucky. When plugged it in, the fan twisted to the power supply and stopped. What really need is stand. looked online for mounts and they were rather expensive, around $70. So, went back and asked my son if he could throw something together quickly. In matter of about 10 or 15 minutes, he had new stand all ready to go to try out using some scrap wood that he had on hand. there we go. That looks much better. can remove the fan from the mount by pulling up on the mount. So, now we're all set. I'll plug in the power and we'll try that again. Now, I've dimmed the light so it's easier for you to see and set the recording to 30 fps. This isn't perfect, but you get good idea of what it looks like. It does have bit of 3D holographic look to it, but not as pronounced as you might expect. If you look closely, you can see circular skin lines similar to what you'd see on an old CRT display. actually like this effect, but then again, love scan lines. You can download the app using the QR code from the manual for both Android and iOS. You'll need to connect to the LED fan directly over Wi-Fi to use it with any applications. This device was broadcasting the MS45 SSID. Then simply enter the password of 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 to connect. From here, you can select any of the videos or static images from the list, everything after 07 or items added for testing. In settings, you can adjust the brightness, the angle, and several other settings. If you want to download more pre-made videos, you can select cloud, then switch over to your actual Wi-Fi SSID or network, and then tap the screen and pick additional models to download to the device. You can preview them here and if they look good, save to local. Now, if you want to store the image on the fan itself, tap the send button in the upper right. Now, you can use the app or the remote to pick different video or image to view on the LED fan. The angles are straight, so it doesn't push out any air or very little. Let's view few of the animations we just downloaded. I'll place link below where you can download the PC application, but as tip, you can also find it on the micro SD card included with the fan. When connecting from PC, you may find the need to disable your anti virus to make connection. From there, you can doubleclick on an item for it to begin playing on the fan, assuming, of course, that you turned it on. And if you didn't, you can press the play button to turn it on or the stop button to stop the fan blades. You can go into settings and modify the Wi-Fi name, change the brightness or the angle. You can also connect it to Bluetooth audio device. Clicking the upload button allows you to upload videos or stills. I'll grab the channel logo, upload it, and take look. Another feature that it has is projection. This is pretty cool, but only small area of my screen worked for the projection area. So, loaded up my 3D printer splicer with the Ghostbusters model and projected it through the display in real time. That's pretty neat. wasn't able to locate the source code for the PC application. If come across the source code, I'll add link below. So, does it live up to the hype? Well, yes and no. Yes, it does give off 3D appearance, more so depending on the image or animation that's being played. Is it as pronounced as many of the advertisements make it out to be? I'd have to say not really. You'll definitely want to put it in location where no one can touch it, including pets. think it's pretty cool and don't regret buying it. hope you enjoyed this look at the 3D hologram LED fan.
