There's question that quietly sits in the heart of every human being, young or old, strong or weary, confident or uncertain. Where am safe? Not just physically safe, but emotionally safe, mentally safe, spiritually safe. Where can go when life feels overwhelming? when my thoughts are loud, when fear creeps in, when don't have the answers. And if we're honest, we've all tried to answer that question in different ways. Some of us run to people. Some of us run to distractions. Some of us run to comfort zones, routines, or control. But today, want to remind you of something powerful. Something unshakable, something eternal. The safest place in the whole wide world is in the will of God. Let's anchor ourselves in this truth with the word of God. Proverbs 18:10 says, "The name of the Lord is strong tower. The righteous run to it and are safe. strong tower, not weak shelter, not temporary hiding place, not something that collapses under pressure. No, it said strong tower. In biblical times, tower was place of refuge. It was elevated, protected, guarded. When danger came, people didn't hesitate. They ran, not walked, not strolled. They ran with urgency, with expectation, with confidence, because they knew what that tower represented. Safety. And the scripture says that the name of the Lord is that tower. Not was, not might be, not if conditions are right. No, it says the name of the Lord is. That means right now in this moment in your situation, God is not just place you visit. He is place you live in. So what does safety in God actually look like? It looks like peace in the middle of chaos. It looks like your heart being steady when everything around you feels uncertain. It looks like knowing that even if you don't have control, you are held by the one who does. Psalm 4:8 says, will both lie down in peace and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety." Think about it. Real safety isn't just about what's happening around you. It's about what's happening within you. You can be in noisy room and still feel safe. You can be in storm and still feel anchored. Because safety and God is not circumstantial. It's relational. Let's look at what safety feels like. It feels like being seen, fully seen, and still loved. Psalm 139:es 1-2. Lord, you have searched me and known me. You know my sitting down and my rising up. You understand my thought far off. God sees everything about you. Your strengths, your struggles, your questions, your fears, and he does not turn away. That's safety. Safety feels like being covered. Psalm 91:4, "He shall cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you shall take refuge. His truth shall be your shield and buckler." There's something comforting about being covered, about knowing that you're not exposed. You're not left out in the open to face everything on your own. God says, "Come close. stay under my covering. So, let's think about what safety looks like in real life. Safety looks like obedience. And that might surprise you because sometimes we think safety means avoiding difficulty. But in the kingdom of God, safety isn't the absence of challenges. It's the presence of God. That's why the safest place you can ever be is in the will of God. Let's look at biblical example. Think about Noah. God gave Noah an instruction that didn't make sense to the world. Build an ark when there had never even been rain like that before. It was unfamiliar. It was uncomfortable. it looked foolish to others. But where was Noah safest? Not outside the will of God, not blending in with the crowd. Noah was safest inside the ark, inside the will of God. And when the flood came, what looked strange became salvation. Consider Daniel. Daniel was thrown into den of lions, not because he was disobedient, but because he was faithful. And yet, even in place that looked dangerous, he was safe. Daniel 6:22 says, "My God sent his angel and shut the lion's mouths so that they have not hurt me." That's the kind of safety God provides. Not always removing you from the situation, but sustaining you in it. So, let me ask you something personal. When you want to feel safe, who do you run to? Where do you run? Do you run to worry? Do you run to people who can't carry what you're feeling? Do you run to habits that temporarily numb but never heal? Or do you run to God? Because the scripture doesn't say the righteous think about the tower. It says they run to it. There's movement. There's intention. There's an urgency. God isn't distant. He's available. But we have to choose where we run. And here's something beautiful. God doesn't just offer safety. He embodies it. Think about David. David faced lions, bears, giants, and battles. But listen to how he describes God. Psalm 27:1, "The Lord is my light and my salvation. Whom shall fear? The Lord is the strength of my life. Of whom shall be afraid?" That's what safety sounds like. It sounds like confidence. It sounds like clarity and courage. Not because life is easy, but because God is present. Now, let's take it step further because God doesn't just call us to receive safety. He calls us to reflect it. God uses ambassadors in the earth, people, vessels, representatives of his love. So, let me ask you, who makes you feel safe and seen? Is it someone who listens without judgment? Is it someone who shows up consistently? Maybe it's someone who reminds you of your worth. Those people are gifts. They reflect the heart of God. So then here's the next question. Are people safe with you? Do people feel seen when they're around you? Do they feel heard, valued, or do they feel judged, dismissed, misunderstood? Because if we are children of God, we are called to carry his nature and his very nature is safe. Let's look at our perfect example, Jesus Christ. People were drawn to him not just because of his power, but because of his presence. Children felt safe with him. The broken felt safe with him. Even those who had made mistakes felt safe enough to come close. Why? Because he didn't just see who they were. He saw who they would become. And he loved them right where they were. That's what safety looks like. So then, how do we become safe place for others? Well, first we need to learn to listen. James 1:1 19. So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath. Sometimes safety is created in silence by simply being present. Second, we choose compassion over criticism. In Colossians 3:12, it says for us to put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering. People don't need perfection. They need presence. And third, we reflect with consistency. God is consistent. He doesn't change based on mood or moment. And when we become consistent, we become trustworthy. There's safety there. But here's the truth. You can't pour out what you haven't received. If you want to be safe place for others, you must first learn to dwell in the safety of God. You can't give peace if you don't have peace. You cannot offer stability if you're not angered. So then it starts with you running to the tower, leaning into his presence, trusting his heart. And sometimes trusting God as your safe place means letting go of other things. Let go of the control. Let go of the fear. Let go of the need to have everything figured out. Proverbs 3:es 5-6. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he shall direct your paths. Safety is not found in knowing everything. It's found in knowing God. So today, let this settle in your spirit. You are not alone. You are not unprotected. You are not forgotten. There is strong tower inviting you in. And his name is the Lord. Run to him. Not tomorrow. Not when things get worse. Run to him now because in his presence there is peace. In his will there is safety. In his love there is rest. Heavenly Father, we come before you with grateful hearts acknowledging you as our safe place, our strong tower, our refuge and strength. Your word declares in Proverbs 18:10 that the name of the Lord is strong tower. The righteous run to it and are safe. And today we choose to run to you. When the world around us is in chaos and when it looks like at times that things may simply crumble, we can run to you and know that we are safe. Thank you for being consistent in world that is ever changing. Thank you for being light in every dark place and love in every uncertain moment. In you there is fullness of joy. and at your right hand are pleasures forever more. Help me to saturate my mind with your righteous commands. Help me to put on the full armor of God so that may always be ready to withstand all of the enemy's attacks. In your presence no other power can stand. praise you Lord and know that you love me. know that you hold me in the palm of your hand. and within your grasp is the safest place to be.
