flash cards are one of the best revision resources that there is when used correctly however many students don't know how to use flash cards ultimately and really struggle with actually getting benefits from them in this video I'm going to clearly explain how to use flash cards and how use flash cards to get all Nines in my gcc's and two stars in my levels if you're new here please make sure to subscribe and please can everyone leave like I'm going to get straight into this by asking by answering couple commonly asked questions just to make sure that all your questions are answered if you have any other questions leave them in the comments and will respond to that number one can you be and should you be writing flash cards now in your vision four months away from gcc's or four months away from levels my answer is yes flashcards do take up bit of time to write but once written they're an incredibly powerful resource so you can be writing and should be writing flashcards now number two where should write my flash cards I'll go into this in little bit more detail later but paper is fine and so is online as well anky or Quizlet personally prefer Quizlet think lot of studied YouTubers talk about anky but actually think Quizlet is bit simpler to understand think that's very important too so Quizlet paper anky I'll go into more detail in that later if you have any questions about flash cards please leave them in the comments below okay this is how flash cards are used and why flash cards are useful here's short section of some of the GCC flash cards had they took up huge amount of my time especially near the end of my exams what flash cards are really good at is helping you memorize key bits of information that you need to know for example key facts in history geography key dates in history key quotes in English if you need to memorize stuff flash cards is the way to do it for example this flash card here is biology and I'm talking about how can valve damage be treated on the back is my answers to that so flash cards great for working out and helping you memorize content this is how then to actually write the flash cards and then I'll talk about how to use them the way recommend writing flashcards is by having question on the front or group of questions to save space and answers on the back I'll put some flashcards of questions and answers on the screen now and make sure to check the Community page in my channel for more I'll put up lots as well so keep updated make sure you're subscribed for that what would recommend doing is linking if you can the cards in flash card to theme so on this biology paper 2 flash card I'm talking about valve damage in the first question then the second question says finish the sentence replacing valve is much less something is much less something procedure than whole heart transplant so all of this is linked on the same theme and this just helps Forge Connections in your brain which can be very useful later on as well now you what you shouldn't do with flash cards is just write notes on one side just notes and photos or whatever what flash card should be it's question answer so you're actually recalling information importantly as well they should be focused on your weak points don't just write flashcards about the whole of everything okay we don't have the time for that Focus flashcards on your weak points so for example after you do test after did science paper I'd go through and anything got wrong would flash card to help me remember it in the future so Focus flash cards on your weak points on the things that you don't know if you think you're going to remember it or you do know it then don't write flash card on it because that is waste of your time right then how to actually use flash cards let me explain there are couple ways of using flash cards and this involves this circles around whether they're paper or online if you have paper flash cards and personally would recommend paper flash cards for subjects such as maths where you need to draw graphs or anything like that in levels moved most of my flash cards digitally but my math flash cards were still on paper and GCS all of them on paper which did get little bit clunky this is hard use them though with paper flash cards would have three boxes daily monthly weekly would put all the flash cards that create into the daily box and would go through these with my dad or my mom and get someone else to read them to me appreciate your parents may not have the time or any other circumstances so you can do them by yourself did that for my levels and that was fine but I'd get my dad to read them to me all of the daily books if got something right from the daily books it was moved to monthly then once it was moved to weekly sorry then once week would do the weekly box if got something right in weekly it was moved up to monthly and if got something wrong in the weekly box it went back to the Daily box then once month we did the monthly box if got anything right in monthly it stayed there that meant learned it knew it it was in my longer term memory and if got anything wrong in monthly it went back to daily this box method is ridiculously effective as long as you actually do it daily or every other day it's down to you to set the time intervals because what it means is that you just keep doing your flash cards until you learn them you literally can't not learn them lot of people think one of the reasons they struggle with flash cards is they just don't give them enough time they think they're suddenly going to go into your head it takes time and practice and effort you should be going through your flash cards every single day if you can and then the ones you get right that's when you can move them up because they have started getting into longterm memory so that's one way and that's what would do with paper flash cards now it is harder online if you have Quizlet decks or anky decks or something like that what would do is set up schedule to do my flash cards I'm going to link this in the description PDF of that schedule for free and also put up on the screen now so you can get an example of what that looks like so split all my flash card decks into two weeks and basically went through like history on one day on by my Nazi Germany as topic and then did that topic again later so just made sure was going through all my topics every two weeks apps like quizzler they know know when you get questions right so you could just take them off and next time you do it you'll only have the wrong ones which is quite useful so those are the ways of actually doing flash cards in conclusion hope that video is really helpful flash cards are pretty simple to do all you need to do is write them based on your weaknesses question and answer of something that you know you need to remember then you just go through them as much as you can try and set out regular time to do these flash cards and over time they will become memory for you please leave any questions in the comments will respond to all them any emails as well always respond to if this if you want more personalized advice I'm absolutely happy to give it to you but that is how to use flash cards my main advice is don't give up on them don't just write notes on flashcards because it's not really very helpful it has to be question answer has to be your mind thinking of something thanks for watching and I'll see you in the next video
