hello well hey there friend welcome to the fast science learning boutique where any science can be explained fast fast fast great want to learn about chemistry chemistry great topic what do you want to know all of it like just everything just totally from topic can you do that yeah no we can do that we can do that we can do that are you ready yup chemistry is lego lego yeah lego you know plastic building blocks yeah know what they are just don't don't understand you know lego that's duplo that's duplo well yeah but it's the same thing no it's not yes it is no they're not yes it is they're not they're yes is bigger but they are both made by the lego company so therefore duplo is lego it calls duplo lego okay fine whatever can you build something out of these bricks sure there you go it's chicken you see lego duplo duplo has different blocks you know the 4x4 the the 2x1 the curvy bit right well chemistry has blocks too they're called the elements that is the periodic table of the elements that looks confusing yeah yeah but it helps to know that most of the stuff you encounter every day is really just made up of these elements here the rest are really exotic you know like those very exotic lego pieces duplo duplo pieces okay just like lego duplo duplo the bricks don't change you just rearrange them to make new stuff well could cut one with the saw no why because they're not yours here is chemical model set do you know why you can make chemical model set just like this because it's legally distinct from lego no because the elements don't change carbon is always carbon and it always has four attachment points so these are like element bricks it's an atom one single unit of any element is called an atom yeah i've heard of that what do you got there well it's red that's oxygen how many attachment points does it have two here stick these on them these guys only have one attachment that's hydrogen they're neat so you've got two h's for hydrogen and one for oxygen h2o yeah two just made water you made water molecule when atoms go together they're called molecules okay but wait if oxygen has two attachments does that mean can attach them together like this you just made o2 or what you would commonly know as oxygen gas okay wait this carbon atom had four attachments so attached atoms of oxygen to either side is this something yup carbon dioxide two wow so can just arrange these however want and come up with all kinds of chemicals you bet neat and when you do you write them down using the letters of the elements it's like reading the instructions to lego duplo yes yes duplo toy here are some instructions take look now how would you build that molecule c2h5oh okay so need two carbon that's one way to put it together would be just to stick this carbon on there yup and then put three hydrogen on the outside yup now i've got three hydrogen but need five hydrogens so i'll attach two more like that and then so attach an oxygen uh-huh and then hydrogen yup there looks like little doggy so is this right you got it and that my friend is an alcohol molecule what no way yes way that wasn't that hard know right so could just make anything that's how chemistry works it's just building blocks what about this that is acetic acid you know vinegar wow now how would you write it okay so okay well guess c2 for these two carbons then h3 for these three hydrogens and then there's an and an so c2 h3 and let's see if you're right yup that is the chemical formula for vinegar really that's so easy know so easy what's this that is pentyl ethanoate or banana flavoring and this caffeine and this that's dupe duplo block yeah looks like we both learned something today sure okay see you later but wait sir that's my duplo block man this video is dedicated to clark and clark's family thank you very much for supporting me and everything do on patreon this table this table is wobbly you see supporting me on patreon allows me to fix my table and various other things so thank you clark and clark's family for supporting me and if you would like to support me on patreon the link is below will see you next time i'm gonna have to get some shims or something this is this is this is hazard in the workplace this is dear me
