Assalamu alaykum. In this chapter, we will learn about the care the prophet peace be upon him received from his grandfather and his uncle and the special journey he made in his childhood. After his mother passed away, the prophet peace be upon him came under the care of his grandfather Abdul Matalib, the respected leader of the Hashimi clan. He kept the young Muhammad, peace be upon him, close to him as he sat in the shade of the Cabba, watching the people of Makka pass by. When the prophet peace be upon him turned 8 years old, Abdul Matalib passed away. After his grandfather's death, he came under the care of his uncle Abu Talib. Abdul Muttalib chose Abu Talib because he and Abdul the prophet's father had the same mother and he knew Abu Talib would care for him well. Abu Talib loved Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him more than his own children. He gave him special place in his home and made him sleep on his own bed. When the prophet peace be upon him was 12 years old, Abu Talib planned to travel to Syria with trade caravan and he took the young Muhammad peace be upon him along. The caravan reached place called Busra which was part of Syria at that time. There they met Christian monk named Bahira. He was known for his knowledge and wisdom. Barira saw the young Muhammad peace be upon him and immediately recognize signs that he was the last prophet foretold in earlier scriptures. Barira advised Abu Talib to take special care of his nephew and protect him well because he was destined to be prophet. Every part of the prophet's childhood was filled with care, protection, and guidance from Allah, preparing him for his great mission. From his grandfather to his uncle, Allah always placed loving guardians around the prophet peace be upon him. In the next chapter, we will learn more about his youth and character.
