hello friends we learned from last session that mindfulness means being aware of how you are feeling and how you are thinking so let's try it we are going to do quick mindfulness activity together now close your eyes and relax your neck and your shoulders close your mouth and slowly breathe in through your nose slowly breathe out with your mouth keep your eyes closed and breathe again through your nose and out with your mouth and this time notice how you're feeling let's breathe in and let's breathe out and now would like you to open your eyes were you able to identify your feelings was it little bit challenging that's okay it can be difficult to identify and name all of the emotions we are feeling every single day sometimes we can experience more than just one feeling at time which can be confusing during today's session we are going to be focusing on identifying the feelings we are feeling but why is this important well all emotions tell us something about ourself and all emotions are helpful even the big ones and the overwhelming ones and the better that we become at recognizing them the more we are able to work with our feelings and not against them let's play quick game when feel like this what emotion do you think i'm feeling that's right happy when feel like this what emotion do you think am feeling that's right sad when feel like this what emotion do you think i'm feeling that's right silly did you know that when you identify and name negative feeling experiencing it can actually make you feel better that's pretty cool isn't it during this session we are going to be making feelings wheel that shows us all kinds of emotions using these emojis making feelings wheel can help us to identify how we are feeling at any given time sometimes we feel happy sometimes we feel sad or lonely sometimes we feel sleepy or anxious feeling anxious means we feel nervous or afraid about something that might happen in the future when you are finished with your emotions wheel you can use it throughout the day to identify how you are feeling for example let's say your little sister just took one of your favorite toys which made you feel little angry but it also made you feel little happy that she loves something you love so we could go over to our feelings wheel that looks just like this and we would put clips on our emotions so if we were feeling little angry we would clip just like that and if we were feeling happy we would clip just like that let's get started on our feelings wheel be sure to use your listening ears and looking eyes to pay close attention to my directions we are going to need couple of things for our activity we are going to need two printouts that look like this we are also going to need scissors glue stick paper clips or clothes pins and we will need markers or pencil crayons so let's get started first we're gonna pick six emojis from this printout now recommend to pick the emotions that you feel often let's do that now next we are going to cut out the six emojis that we decided to use for our feelings wheel after you have cut out all six emojis would like you to pick up one emoji what color comes to mind when you are having this emotion pick color that you think expresses this emotion and use that color to fill one part of your wheel and then use your glue stick to stick this emoji onto that color on your wheel for me have to pick happy and when think of happy think of the color yellow so what i'm going to do is i'm going to color one section of my wheel and then i'm going to stick my emoji on that color just like this now let's do this for all of our other emojis until we have all six parts of our wheel colored and decorated with your emojis when you're all finished it should look something like this remember take time and think about how you are feeling throughout the day and you can either put paper clip or clothespin on those emotions on your wheel if you are feeling happy and nervous put one pin on happy and put one pin on nervous it's always okay to feel more than one emotion at the same time make sure you work very hard and stay very focused to complete your emotion wheel once you are done you can take picture of your beautiful artwork this will be one of the projects you need to complete to finish the class and earn your prize you can even ask an adult to send picture of your completed art here and you might be featured on our website thank you so much for participating friends and will see you soon
