The best among you are those with the best manners. In the name of Allah, the most gracious, the most merciful. All praise belongs to Allah, the Lord of the worlds. We send peace and blessings upon his final messenger, Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam, upon his family, his companions, and all those who follow him until the day of judgment. Dear brothers and sisters, today we will reflect on profound saying of the prophet sallallah.aii wasallam. saying that defines what it means to be the best among us. The messenger of Allah sallallah.aii wasallam said, "The best among you are those who have the best manners and character." This hadith is recorded in Sah Alkari, one of the most authentic collections of hadith. At first glance, these words are simple. But when we think deeply, we realize that this hadith is roadmap for success in this world and in the hereafter. It tells us that true greatness is not in wealth, not in power, not in status, but in how we treat others, in our conduct, and in our character. What does it mean to have good manners and character in Islam? In Arabic, the word is flock. clock means more than just politeness. It refers to person's inner qualities, their behavior, their habits, and the way they deal with others. Good character includes honesty, humility, patience, kindness, respect, forgiveness, and compassion. It is not limited to our friends or family. It extends to everyone we interact with, Muslims and non-Muslims, rich and poor, young and old. The prophet sallallah.aii wasallam himself emphasized this in many hadith. He said, was only sent to perfect good morals." Musad Ahmed. This means the entire mission of Islam is not only to establish worship but also to refine the human soul and elevate character. Our faith teaches us that even acts of worship like prayer and fasting are incomplete if they do not improve our manners. What use is prayer if person lies, cheats, and insults others? What value is fasting? If person cannot control their anger or their tongue, good manners are the true reflection of one's faith. The best way to understand this hadith is to look at the life of the one who said it. Our beloved prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaii wasallam. The Quran itself describes his character. Allah says in surah alcalum verse4 and indeed you are upon an exalted standard of character. Let us recall some moments from his life that show what true character means. One day bedawin Arab came to the prophet sallallahu alaii wasallam demanding charity in very harsh and rude way. He even pulled the cloak of the prophet so hard that it left mark on his neck. Instead of reacting with anger, the prophet sallallahu alaii wasallam smiled and ordered that the man be given what he asked for. Another time when the people of Taif rejected him, insulted him and threw stones at him until he bled, the angel of the mountains came and offered to crush the city. But the prophet sallallahu alaii wasallam refused. He said, hope that Allah will bring forth from their descendants people who will worship him alone without associating partners with him." After and when Makkah was conquered after years of persecution, he had the power to take revenge. Yet he stood before the Curesh and said, "No blame will be upon you today. Go for you are free." These are not ordinary examples. These are lessons that show us what real strength is. Strength is not in harshness. Strength is in forgiveness. Power is not in revenge. Power is in patience. Even in small matters, the prophet sallallah.aii wasallam showed perfect manners. He was never rude. He never raised his voice harshly. He never cursed or insulted anyone. When he entered his home, he would greet his family with warmth. When children came near him, he would play with them. When the poor sat with him, he would treat them as equals. His entire life was living example of this hadith. The best among you are those who have the best manners and character. Brothers and sisters, let us now reflect. How can we apply this hadith in our lives today? Number one, speak with kindness. Our words have power. kind word can heal heart while harsh word can break it. The prophet sallallah.aii alaihi wasallam said, "Whoever believes in Allah in the last day should speak good or remain silent." Number two, be honest and trustworthy in business, in studies, at work. Muslims should be known for their honesty. The prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam was called alamin, the trustworthy, even by his enemies. Number three, forgive others. We live in time where anger and grudges break families and communities. But Islam teaches us to forgive. Allah says, "And let them pardon and overlook." Would you not love that Allah should forgive you? Surah Anure 24:22. Number four, control anger. The prophet Alisam said, "The strong man is not the one who can wrestle others. Rather, the strong man is the one who controls himself when angry. Number five, respect everyone. Respect your parents, your neighbors, your teachers, and even those who disagree with you. Respect is sign of humility. And humility is the root of good character. In short, character is not about how we act in the masid only. It is about how we treat people in the marketplace, in traffic, at school, at work, and even on social media. The reward of good character. Why is good character so important? Because Allah has made it one of the heaviest things on the scale on the day of judgment. The prophet sallallah.aii Sahu alaihi wasallam said there is nothing heavier on the believer's scale on the day of judgment than good character. Tmidi he also said the most beloved of you to me and the closest to me on the day of judgment will be those with the best character. Tmidi, imagine standing on the day of judgment when everyone is desperate for salvation and finding that your good manners bring you close to the prophet sallallahu alaii wasallam himself. What greater honor could there be? This hadith is not just advice for better society. It is key to paradise. Dear brothers and sisters, let us return to the hadith we began with. The best among you are those who have the best manners and character. This is the standard of greatness in Islam. Not wealth, not fame, not status, but character. As Muslims, our goal should be to embody this teaching every single day. to speak with kindness, to forgive, to be patient, to respect others, to follow the example of the prophet sallallah.aii wasallam. Let us strive to be among those whom the prophet sallallah.aii wasallam described as the best of people. We end with dua. Allah, beautify our character as you have beautified our appearance.
