allum this is ail the Arabic coach and this time we're diving into the beauty of the Arabic Alphabet letter by letter whether you're new or returning get ready to master the Arabic script in this one video let's start with learning outcomes one basic information two all the Arabic letters three each Arabic letter and how it is written in different positions in word four writing the Arabic word five common mistakes and revision as we get ready to learn how to write the Arabic letters grab pen and paper and maybe drink you enjoy no need to worry Arabic script is actually lot easier than it seems let's keep it relaxed and fun before we dive into writing each letter it's important to understand few Basics about the Arabic script first Arabic is written from right to left this might be different from what you're used to if you come from language that writes left to right like English Second Arabic letters have different forms depending on their position in word single letter might look different at at the beginning middle or end of word and some letters connect to others While others do not lastly unlike some other scripts Arabic is cursive script meaning that most of the letters in words are connected this gives Arabic its beautiful flowing appearance but also means that mastering these connections is key to writing well in Arabic the Arabic alphabet consists of 28 unique letters let's start with the first letter alif alif makes the sound as an Apple to write it draw vertical line from top to bottom we can write it with or without Hamza Hamza on the other hand is something many of you asked about in the comment section of my previous video Arabic alphabet pronunciation which recommend watching if you haven't yet Hamza is not considered one of the 28 letters of the Arabic alphabet in most Arabic linguistic sources because it functions more like diacritical Mark that represents gloral stop similar to the sound in uhoh where the airflow is briefly stopped in the throat Hamza usually combines with other letters letter like wow or rather than standing alone which is why it's not counted as separate letter again vertical line from top to bottom with or without Hamza next we have ba ba sounds like the English as in bat start by drawing small curve from right to left then place directly below it again small curve from right to left and DOT directly below it makes the sound like in table it is very similar to in shape draw small curve but then add two dots above the line again draw small curve add two dots above the line th th has soft th sound like in three it is another letter similar in shape with different dots draw the curve then add three dots above the line remember the letter that has three dots make the sound th as in three again draw the curve add three dots above the line now we have and th which are similar in shape but have different dots Jim sounds like the English in Jam start by drawing small hook and then from right to left down and place dot in the middle again draw small hook and then from right to left down and place dot in the middle ha ha has no exact English equivalent but we can refer to it as an ha produces deep breathy sound almost like strong exhale from the throat ha to write it draw the same hook shape as GM but without the DOT again draw the same hook shape but without the dots has no exact English equivalent but we refer to it as KH draw the hook shape and then place DOT Above It Again The Hook shape DOT above now we have ha which are similar in shape but have different dots sounds like the English in dog draw small curve from the top to the bottom right to left kind of like half moon again small curve from top to bottom right to left has the sound like in that draw small curve and place DOT above it again small curve DOT above it now we have Dal and which are similar in shape but one is with DOT and one is without ra ra sounds like the English ra and run but with slight draw of the tongue ra start at the top draw curve down to the left and extend the line slightly again start from the top draw curve down to the left extend the line slightly makes the sound like in zebra draw the curve like raw but with DOT on the top again draw the curve with DOT on the top now we have ra and which are similar in shape but one is with DOT and one is without seen scen sounds like the English in Sun draw wavy line start with small curve up then dip down curve up again and dip down one more time with the big tail again start with small curve up dip down curve up again dip down one more time with big tail Shen Shen makes the sh sound like in shoe draw the wavy line as in scene and then add three dots above it again draw the wavy line as in scen add three dots above it now we have seen and Sheen which are similar in shape but one is with the dots and one is without fod has no exact English equivalent fod is heavy sound produced with more pressure from the tongue making it deeper than the usual in to write it draw half circle with wide curve again half circle with wide curve has no English equivalent and in matter of fact it has no equivalent in any other languages do is deep strong du sound different from the regular du as in dog it is pronounced with lot of tongue pressure and is unique to Arabic draw the wide curve like and then add DOT above it again draw the wide curve and add the dot above now we have Sol and do which are similar in shape but one is with DOT and one is without all all has no exact English equivalent it is heavy sound produced from the back of the mouth with more tension than the English in table start with loop then draw line to the left with small tail at the end again start with loop draw line to the left with small tail at the end also has no exact English equivalent is heavy the sound much thicker than the usual the in the word that it's pronounced with more tongue pressure again advise you to refer to my previous video Arabic alphabet pronunciation for more detailed explanation now for writing draw the shape with the tail and add DOT above again draw the shape with the tail and add DOT above now we have and la which are similar in shade but one is with DOT and one is without has no English equivalent is deep throat sound almost like hard gutl in apple but produced lower in the throat to write it draw small hook with loop that curves back up again draw small hook with loop that curves back up has no exact English equivalent makes throy GH sound similar to the French in it's deep vibrating sound from the back of the throat to write it draw the hook and the loop like then add DOT above it again draw the hook and loop like then add DOT above it now we have and which are similar in shape but one is with DOT and one is without sounds like the English in fish start with loop at the top then draw curved line down to the left and place DOT above the loop again loop at the top curved line down to the left and DOT above the loop has no exact English equivalent however it has deep sound like Queen but pronounced with the back of the tongue against the throat it's stronger and deeper than the English or sound to write it draw the loop and the curved line just like fa two dots above it again draw the loop and the curved line and then add two dots above it now we have fa and which are similar in shape but have different dots fa has one dot has two dots calf calf makes the sound like in kite start by drawing vertical line down then curve to the left at the bottom then add small hook that looks like Hamza again draw vertical line down then curve to the left at the bottom and then add small hook that looks like kza lamb lamb sounds like the English in Lamb start at the top draw line down then curve it to the left at the bottom again start at the top draw line down then curve it to the left at the bottom mem mem sounds like the English Ma in moon or meme draw small Loop then line to the left and extend the line downward again draw small Loop then line to the left and extend the line downward no noon makes the na sound like nest to write it draw draw the wide curve and then add DOT above it again draw the wide curve and add DOT above it ha ha makes an sound like an hat draw small circle at the bottom and then bigger one and extend the line to the left again draw small circle at the bottom then bigger one and extend the line to the left wow wow sounds like the English in WoW to write it draw the small Loop and curve to the left again draw the small Loop and curve to the left and finally the last letter of the alphabet makes the sound like an yes from right to left draw the small curve and then add two dots below it again small curve and then add two dots below it now let's learn how to write El if in the beginning of the word and because we write from right to left elif is not connected on the right side because it is the first letter we write in the word and it is not connected on the left side because it is kicking letter so we basically write the full shape of alif as we learned vertical line with or without Hamza like in the word ml which means hope but in this part of the video let's not get distracted with meanings and vocabulary and focus on writing techniques next is alif in the middle of the word following connecting letter for example in this case we write small connecting line to connect El to the previous letter vertical line and Hamza like in the word sa next is Al if in the middle of the word without Hamza like in the word bab if if is in the middle of the word or at the end of the word and following piing letter we just write El if as we learned without any connecting lines like in the word jar and if it has Hamza we just add the Hamza like in the word in some cases Hamza is written under El if not above and it is pronounced as instead of now we'll cover the connecting letters since ba is connecting letter it is not one of the kicking letters we connect it as follows and this is how most letters are connected in the Arabic word the first form is at the beginning or in the middle of word when the letter follows kicking letter write the first part of the letter which is ba in this case and connecting line to connected to the following letter here is the initial form of for example bit the second form is in the middle of word when the letter is connected to previous letter write the connecting line the first part of the letter and another connecting line to connect it to the following letter here is the medial form of for example the third form is at the end of word when the letter is connected to previous letter write the connecting line and the full shape of the letter here is the final shape of for example the fourth form is at the end of word when the letter is following kicking letter write the isolated form which is the full shape as we learned before here is for example next is we connect it exactly the same way we did with next is th we connected the same way we did with and next is same connection method at the beginning or in the middle following kicking letter write the first part of GM and connecting line for example jaml in the middle following connecting letter write the connecting line the first part of and connecting line to connect it to the the following letter for example Mel at the end when it's connected to previous letter write the connecting line and the full shape of GM for example at the end when it's following kicking letter write the isolated form of Jim for example next is ha we connected the same way we did with the only difference is that ha does not have DOT next is we connected the same way we did with and ha but we place the dot above the letter next is which is one of the kicking letters so we never connect it to the following letter at the beginning or in the middle when it's following kicking letter write the isolated form of Dal because it's kicking letter for example Dean in the middle when it's connected to previous letter for example Medina at the end when it's connected to previous letter for example at the end when it's following kicking letter for example lead next is the which is also one of the kicking letters so we never connected to the following letter and when we connected to the previous letter we connected the same way we did with the difference is the dot next is ra which is also kicking letter at the beginning or in the middle when it's following kicking letter for example in the middle when it's connected to previous letter for example at the end when it's connected to previous letter for example at the end when it's following kicking letter for example next is which is also kicking letter and we write it just the way we write ra next is sinen which is not kicking letter so we connect it normally to both sides at the beginning or in the middle when it's following kicking letter write the first part of scene and connecting line for example Salam in the middle when it's following connecting letter write the connecting line the first part of scene and another connecting line for example mid at the end when it's connected to previous letter write the connecting line and the full shape of scene for example nephus at the end when it's following kicking letter write the isolated form of scene for example haris next is Sheen which is similar to scene but with three dots on the top next is fall and we use the same connection method at the beginning or in the middle when it's following kicking letter for example in the middle when it's connected to previous letter for example Miss at the end when it's connected to previous letter for example at the end when it's following kicking letter for example next is do and it's similar to sod with DOT on the top next is at the beginning or the middle when it's following kicking letter for example in the middle when it's connected to previous letter for example at the end when it's connected to previous letter for example at the end when it's following kicking letter for example next is similar to with DOT on the top next is your favorite letter is little bit different at the beginning or in the middle when it's following kicking letter write the first part of which is the upper part and connect it to the following in letter with connecting line for example the word in the middle when it's following connecting letter write the connecting line an upside down triangle and connecting line to connect it to the following letter for example at the end when it's following connecting letter write the connecting line the upside down triangle and the tail of for example at the end when it's following kicking letter write the isolated form of for example next is similar to with DOT on the top next is fa back to the regular connection method at the beginning or in the middle when it's following kicking letter write the first part of and the connecting line for example in the middle when it's connected to previous letter write the connecting line the first part of and connecting line to connect it to the following letter for example at the end when it's connected to previous letter write the connecting line and the full shape of for example at the end when it's following kicking letter write the isolated form of fa for example next is similar to but with two dots on the top next is calf which is also bit different at the beginning or in the middle when it's following kicking letter here is how calf is written for example in the middle when it's following connecting letter write the connecting line CF as we learned and another connecting line for example at the end when it's connected to previous letter write the connecting line and the full shape of calf for example shck at the end when it's following kicking letter write the isolated form of CF for example next is lamb at the beginning or in the middle when it's following kicking letter here is how lamb is written for example Leon in the middle when it's following connecting letter write the connecting line lamb and another connecting line for example at the end when it's connected to previous letter write the connect line and the full shape of lamb for example at the end when it's following kicking letter write the isolated form of lamb for example next Is MeMe at the beginning or in the middle when it's following kicking letter write the head of Meme and connecting line for examplea in the middle when it's connected to previous letter write the connecting line the head of Meme and connecting line to connect it to the following letter for example SE at the end when it's connected to previous letter write the connecting line and the full shape of meme for example at the end when it's following kicking letter write the isolated form of mem for example next is no noon is connected similarly to and th when it's connected to following letter but we place one dot on the top at the beginning or in the middle when it's following kicking letter for example in the middle when it's connected to previous letter for example at the end when it's connected to previous letter for example at the end when it's following kicking letter for example next is ha and it's connected differently at the beginning or in the middle following kicking letter write the full shape of and connecting line for example in the middle following connecting letter write the connecting line and and connecting line to connected to the following letter similar to an English eight for example Mim at the end when it's connected to previous letter write the connecting line and this way for example at the end when it's following kicking letter write the letter this way for example me yeah next is wow and it's kicking letter so we don't connect it to the following letter at the beginning we're in the middle following kicking letter for example in the middle following connecting letter for example at the end when it's connected to previous letter for example at the end when it's following kicking letter for example next is the last letter in the Arabic alphabet ya ya is written similarly to th and noon when it's connected to following letter at the beginning or in the middle following kicking letter for example in the middle following connecting letter for example at the end when it's connected to previous letter for example at the end when it's following kicking letter for example common mistakes incorrect dot placement writing incorrect dots can result in either meaningless word or completely different word for example jaml means camel means verb to carry bait means house bent means girl haraj means difficulty or embarrassment means verb to get out second common mistake is writing long letters too short shortening long letters can make them resemble other letters for example lamb might look like raw if the shape is not written properly common mistake number three incorrect head of meme when meme is connected its head must be written correctly otherwise it may resemble fa without the dot which can confuse the reader common mistake number four is confusing with tan writing instead of tan can change the meaning tan refers to diacritical mark indicating the addition of an Sound at the end of word it is represented by doubling the short vowels and example common mistake number five is connecting non-connecting letters letters like El if are kicking letters and cannot connect to the following letter for example connecting El if incorrectly results in Lamb which could make word that doesn't make sense note tips and wrapup one learn diacritical marks diacritical marks indicate short vowels pronunciation small diagonal line above letter for short sound example small diagonal line below letter for short sound example small wow above letter for short sound example indicates no vowel on letter example indicates doubling letter example two learn common ligatures practice ligatures like la which combine two letters into one shape La in this shape is used when lamb andif are not connected to previous letter example La La in this shape appears when connected to previous letter example what you write is what you read in Arabic mostly exceptions include Allah and where long is read but not written demonstratives like and which is also read but not written the is added after wow in past tense verbs but not pronounced example three avoid lifting the pen keep your pen on the paper except for letters that don't connect to the next one this ensures smooth and consistent writing four be mindful of spacing space your letters and words properly letters that are too close or too far apart can make your writing unclear five use line paper ensure your letters sit on or slightly below the Basel line for proper alignment six imitate texts for better accuracy copy words and
