hey guys over here today I'm doing the math grade four module 3 lesson 32 homework so let's get started solve the following problems draw tape diagrams to help you solve solve if there is remainder shade in small portion of the tape diagram to represent that portion of the hole all right number one okay wait Miss mana mana bought package of 435 party favorites to give to the guest at her birthday party she calculated that she could give nine party favors to each guest how many guests is she expecting let's draw our tape diagram so we know she has total of 435 party favors get total 435 now we don't know how many guests she's expecting so we don't know the number of group for grouping but then we do know each party favor should give each guest will be nine party favors I'll keep on having nine but dot dot dot cuz we don't know how like we don't know when that will stop so what we're trying to figure out is how many guests She is expecting how many groups of nine party favors are there so we can do is 435 divide by 9 9 can't go into four but 43 9 goes four times 9 * 4 is 36 so 43 - 36 10 13 - 6 is seven now bring down the five 9 goes 8 times into 75 5 which is 72 so we have remainder of three and what it said over here meant there's remainder shade in small portion of the tape diagram at the very end we just shade in little bit we say remainder of three to show that it's still part of the 435 so that means that she is expecting 48 guests because that is the whole number so that is how many guests she is expecting is expecting 48 guest all right number two 4,000 pencils were donated to an elementary school elementary school elementary school if eight classrooms share the pencils equally how many pencil did each class receive let do our tape diagram for the total is 4,000 pencils now we know the number of groups the number of groups is eight because the 4,000 pencils they're being equally divided among eight classrooms one 2 3 4 five six seven what we don't know is the group size so how many many pencils is each classroom getting so we do 4,000 IDE 8 8 can't go into four 40 8 goes five times into 40 8 * 5 is 40 so 40 - 40 is 0 but we're not done yet we have to keep dividing so bring the zero down it8 goes 0 times to 0o so 8 * 0 is 0 so 0 - 0 is 0 and bring down the zero again it's 0 0 - 0 is0 again so our answer is 500 that means each class receive pencils all right number three 2008 kilog kilog of potatoes were packed into sacks weighing 8 kg each how many sacks were packed so our total 2008 kg now we don't know how many sacks they were packed into but we do know each sack weighs 8 kg here right dot dot dot cuz we don't know how many there are that's why we're trying to find out the number of groups so we do 2008 divide by 8 so eight can't go into two but 20 it goes two times 20 - 16 is 4 bring down the zero it goes 5 times into four and bring down the eight eight goes one time into eight so our answer is 251 that means 251 sacks were packed yeah next page number four baker made Seven batches of muffins there was total of 252 muffins if if there was the same number of muffins in each batch how many muffins were in one batch batch so let's see we know the total is 252 muffins and we know the number of groups they're baked equally into seven batches so one two three four five six seven two three four five six seven batches but we don't know is group size how many were in each batch so that is what we're trying to find out now we have 252 by 7 7 can't grow into two but we look at 25 7 goes three times- 21 four bring down the two seven goes six times so our quotient is 36 that means there were 36 muffins in each batch all right number five Samantha ran 33 in 7 days if she ran the same distance each day how far did Samantha run in 3 days all right let's start with our tape diagram the total distance that she ran was 3,3 in 7 days so one and if she ran the same distance each day how far did she run each day or in 3 days so we know the group number cuz we know it's all in seven days but we don't know it group size we don't know how many miles she ran or how many me she run in each day put question mark let's divide 33 divide by seven seven can't go into 30 three but if we look at 30 seven goes four times two left over bring down the zero seven goes two times into 20 six left over bring down the three seven goes nine times into three into 63 so our quotient is 429 that means Samantha runs 429 each day but we're not done yet it says how far does she run in 3 days so what we do is we do 429 * 3 days 9 * 3 is 27 2 * 3 is 6 + 2 is 8 and 4 * 3 is 12 all right so that's our answer Samantha ran 1,287 in three days so yeah all right thank you guys so much for watching hope this video helps and please don't forget to like And subscribe because it really helps out my channel see you guys next time bye by
