Meet Louisie Pastor Stewart, science superhero who made milk safer and saved lives with his germ fighting powers. He was born in France in 1822. He loved drawing, fishing, and asking big questions about how things worked. He wasn't the best at school at first, but guess what? He kept trying and grew to love science. As young scientist, Lewis used microscopes to look at tiny living things called microbes. People used to think diseases came from bad air. He had bold idea. Tiny germs were the real troublemakers. He proved it with soup. When sealed tight, the soup stayed fresh. When open, germs made it spoil. Lewis invented pasteurization, heating milk and juice to kill bad germs. That's why your milk is safe today. Farm animals were getting sick. He found out why and showed farmers how to stop the spread of germs. Even tiny silkworms were getting sick. Louisie discovered what was wrong and helped save the silk industry. One day, boy was bitten by rabid dog. Lewis gave him special vaccine and it worked. He saved the boy's life. He made more vaccines for animals and people. His discoveries helped protect the world from deadly diseases. He believed science should help everyone, rich or poor. He even opened lab to give free help. People everywhere celebrated Lewis. He got medals, honors, and even his own statue.
