Chapter number 28 of the Quran, Surah Al-Qasas, the narration, verse number 76. Qarun Now, Qarun is one of the people of the people of Moses. You know, we remember Pharaoh and all of those people, right? Now, Qarun was one of the people, right? Of the people of Israel. So, Qarun was doubtless of the people of Moses. But, he acted insolently towards them. Such were the treasures we had bestowed on him that the very keys would have been burden to body of strong men. Behold, his people said to him, "Exalt not, for Allah loves not those who exalt in riches." So, he was so wealthy. But, he had the combination of arrogance, insolence, don't caring about anybody else, total narcissist, bully, bad person. You don't You don't want to know that person, right? And you can just imagine the amount of gold and treasures that he had when the treasure chest had keys. Right. Now, look at your own house. Look at your own bunch of keys. And we all carry keys with us. You've got bunch of keys for your house. It's few keys. If you combine that with bunch of keys for your office, it's another few keys. And your car keys. Say you got 10, 20 keys. That's your bunch. You can hold it in one hand. It can fit in your pocket. But, this guy this guy had so many treasures that he needed special bodyguards, not to carry the treasures, just to carry the keys for the treasures. Do we understand the wealth this guy got? He needed extra bodyguards just to carry the keys. And tradition say that, you know, the camels were laden with treasures upon don't know how many camels there were, 500 or 1,000 or many thousands. But he was so wealthy. And when people used to see him going down the street, like today's modern terms, it's like person comes with his private jet, then the helicopter brings him to the stadium, and everyone is looking Hey, this guy came, the big shot has come. Wow, look at that limousine. Wow, he's driving the Ferrari. He's got the latest Bentley or Mercedes. And people are going and And they wish was rich like Hey, look at his wife and his girlfriends. Wow, look at that big rock on the finger. Look at the jewel with the necklace on the neck. Wow, the designer bags. And look at their dress and their outfit. So, people are going gaga's. And they say, "Wow, wish had money like that. Wow, would have had no problems, man. Look at the money this guy is. He's swimming in money, man." So, he was the type of person who would come with great fanfare to display his wealth because he knew that he got so much money. He's the richest guy around. Nobody can touch him in so far as wealth is concerned. But the biggest downfall he's got is this soldier of the devil. The biggest quality he's got is arrogance. And he is arrogant and he is proud. He is assuming that it is his efforts that made him wealthy. And that is where he makes his mistake. It's not his efforts. Allah is testing him. Right? So, Qarun was doubtless of the people of Moses, but he acted insolently towards them. Right? He is He is oppressing the people. Such were the treasures we had bestowed on you see we had bestowed him Allah gave him those treasures to test him. That their very keys would have been burden to body of strong men. Behold his people said to him. They warning him they say you know what you making one mistake. Exalt not for Allah loves not those who exalt in riches. Stop boasting because you are looking for trouble right so don't boast. But seek with the wealth which Allah has bestowed on you the home of the year after nor forget your portion in this world but do you good as Allah has been good to you and seek not occasions for mischief in the land for Allah loves not those who do mischief. So the money that Allah has given you follow the principle of philanthropic capitalism. Look after the poor, the widows, those in need share your money with others. And in this way you're planting your bank balance in the akhirah. Share your money but this guy is so arrogant he say it's my money worked for it. Those people must go fly kites right so that's the arrogance that ruins such people. He said this has been given to me because of certain knowledge which have. I'm very intelligent that's how got my money. You know work hard for my money na. know the share market, know crypto currency, know the property deals, can do business deals, nobody got my knowledge guys. I'm the intelligent one na this is my knowledge na nobody got it's me everything is me it's me it's me that is his downfall. Don't say it's me me me. Everything comes from Allah as test so if you're multimillionaire Allah is testing you. Yes you got to work hard for it. We agree with it but always be humble. Say alhamdulillah. If you get your gold medal at the Olympics, you're not going to get it for free. You've got to work very hard for it. But, at the end of the day, when you get your gold medal, say alhamdulillah. It would not have been possible without Allah. If you get your nine distinctions or eight distinctions or 10 distinctions in school, yes, you've got to work very hard for it. But, don't ever say, "You know what? got it because worked hard for it. It's my effort." No, don't ever say that. You accept your your trophies, take all your certificates, but always say alhamdulillah. All praise belongs to Allah. Allah has given you the brains to do that. Allah has given you the discipline. Allah has then put you in home where your parents can look after you or send you for tuition. What if you were born in the middle of Africa? What if you were born in Palestine? What if you were born in the rural India where you could have got your nine distinctions or eight distinctions? So, let us not ever be arrogant. Always be humble, especially in the time of success. Whereas, Qarun is arrogant upon more arrogant upon more arrogant. Even if people are reminding him, "Qarun, don't do this." You better start sharing your wealth with others. You have become more greedy. The more money you got, the more greedy you have become and the more arrogant you have become. But, he's not interested. Cuz look at his answer. He's saying, "This has been given to me because of certain knowledge which have." Right? He's boasting again. Hey, this is all my intelligence. I'm master at making money. No one can touch me, man. am master at making money, man. What do you guys know? You guys are nothing. I'm the champion. I'm the guy. I'm the guy. know how to make money, right? That is his arrogance. Did he not know that Allah had destroyed before him. Whole generations which was superior to him in strength. And greater in amount of riches they had collected. Guys were more wealthier than him, but because they were arrogant, they all lost everything. But the wicked are not called immediately to account for their sins. They say Allah gives you long rope. He's giving you chance to repent. Giving you chance, giving you chance, but then the longer the rope becomes, you then going to hang yourself with that rope. If you don't repent and realize what mistakes you are doing, nah? So, he went forth among his people in the pride of his worldly clutter. Said those whose aim is the life of this world. that we had the like of what Qarun has got. For he is truly lord of mighty good fortune. Wow, hey, we wish we had bucks like that, man. Look at that, Yes, like, man. Yeah, look at what he's got. Hey, you know, if had money like that, nah? If had money like that, nah? would do I'll tour the world, I'll do this, I'll do this, I'll do this. So, people are envious. They can see what is going on. And sometimes you don't blame people because it's natural human condition. If you see someone so wealthy, but that is why Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, "Take your eyes away from those people. Don't look at those. Look at those who are worse off than you. Don't look at the big shots, right? Because the big shots got their own problems in life. But those who had been granted true knowledge said, "Unless for you the reward of Allah in the hereafter is best for those who believe and work righteousness. Amanu wa amilus salihaat. But this none shall attain save those who steadfastly persevere in good. Then we cause the earth to swallow up him and his house. And he had not the least little party to help him against Allah nor could he defend himself. The earth swallowed him up. Allah does not like the arrogant people who stomp on the earth oppressing other people committing evil tumult and oppression on the world. It doesn't matter whether it is an individual or an organization or nation or country. If one country got Germany proud, arrogant oppressing other nations. If it is an empire eventually that tyranny will eventually drop. History has shown that every tyrannical empire every dictator every tyrant has eventually fallen down and collapsed. This is the law. This is the law which no one can escape. So Qarun this wealthy wealthy guy with thousands of camels just carrying his wealth. He needed bodyguards just to carry the keys of his gold treasure boxes. He just disappeared from the face of the earth. Not only him but his house, whatever it was. We can in modern terms we can say okay from mechanical engineering point of view he had so much gold there that it caused sinkhole to appear in his house. All that weight was too much for the soil. You know maybe underground deep down there was deep cavern. Maybe it had dolomite, whatever it is, but whatever it was, he was gone. Gone. All his money was gone. He was gone. Everything is gone. Gone from the face of the earth. And he was probably big mansion. Whatever he bought in the dollars, the gold, the jewelry, the carpets, whatever it was, everything gone with him. No one saw of him left. And those who had envied his position the day before began to say on the morrow, "It is indeed Allah. It is God most merciful who enlarges the provision or restricts it to any of his servants he pleases. Yesterday Qarun was multimillionaire, today he's nobody, right? Had it not been that Allah was gracious to us, he could have caused the earth to swallow us up." those who reject Allah will assuredly never prosper. "That home of the hereafter we shall give to those who intend not high-handedness or mischief on earth. And the end is best for the righteous." Take care and look after yourself.
