Waqfeya of Arabic Calligraphy (Arabic Calligraphy Endowment) Ruqʻah script By Islam Ramadan Now, we will write the single letter kāf In Ruq’a script, the kāf has two forms We’re going to start with the first form The letter kāf is combination of two letters that we wrote before an alif, but elongated by one nuqta so it’s measured by four nuqat and bā’, but has one more nuqta wide so it’s measured by four nuqat With the same placing angle at 65-70 degrees descend vertically like making an alif letter, but lengthened one more nuqta Finish it by joint (Mafsil) to start again from this point and descend making plate shaped stroke similar to the bā’ letter, but extended by one more nuqta two-thirds and one-third, meaning descend two-thirds of the distance and ascend by the last one ending it with rotation Using the tip of the Qalam, continue the rotation, as so Inside, there is the symbol of small kāf which looks like “hamza”, but linguistically it’s small kāf Refine the ending which has curvature Same the measure as the alif, but with one more nuqta so it is four nuqat high, to the joint And the stroke that looks like bā’ is four nuqat wide The space between the symbol of the small kāf and the straight vertical stroke is equal to one nuqta whereas, horizontally, the space above the small kāf is equal to small nuqta or half nuqta This letter is written above the baseline As result of descending two-thirds of the distance and ascending one-third it creates gap here which measures one nuqta If we draw an imaginary vertical line and another horizontal one there should be space equal one nuqta We have written the first form of the single letter kāf In the next video, we will write the second form.
