Basic Beliefs of Islam Angels

hello we have with us Dr moshar Hussein chief executive of the Academia Institute in here in Nottingham and he's going to talk to us about the Muslim belief in angels mhar help us understand what angels are according to Muslim belief well we believe God runs the universe and every activity in fact everything that moves and is happens in this world is is is under the control of God but you know God doesn't get his fingers everywhere like that and here we have the idea of very special creation of God made of light and it's very interesting the word light of course is is light is energy so this is some kind of magnificent energy which really through which God runs his Universe so we have you know the four famous Angels or the Archangel Gabriel we have Mikel or Michael then we have Israel and israfil all of them doing very distinct works but not not by themselves really they would have their armies hosts of angels working with them so the Mika is famously known for providing for being responsible for the provisions which means you know ensuring there's rain ensuring that crops grow and people have their Provisions provided to them and meaning that angels in in in this sense really are you know we might be able to equate them to Toyota's robots that make the cars really in some ways you know it's this because the Quran talks about them as they they do what they are commanded to do in other words they cannot disobey God so just like the robots are programmed to do particular activity so we have Angels who are assigned to singing God's hymns there are angels who are assigned to prostrate before the Lord there are others who are there to help The Messengers there are others who do all all sorts of different activities can you tell us something about the Angel Gabriel in specifically yes Angel Gabriel is is is of course the Archangel who's responsible for bringing the the scripture or the divine revelation to the prophets and what mean here is Allah when whenever God wants to communicate with his prophets Gabriel is the channel through which this communication happen so Gabriel somehow interprets the Divine mind and the Divine will into the language of that Prophet so if it was Jesus we would believe we believe that Jes he would have brought that change it into arama and present it to Jesus who would then have taught it and that would be the gospels we believe you know those are the words of God or or the Torah you know which Gabriel would have brought the batom in Hebrew the language of Musa and then you know would then have it well write it down yes and what about the angels of of death is is RA and that's right yes and was the second one is Israel is the Angel of Death Israel the angel of death and and again the idea is that this is the Angel who's responsible for terminating people's lives according to of course the divine plan and according to the Divine command so somehow he switches off the switch some way which turns off the the soul and you collapse now think in The Quon it says that the angels are created from light but the Gin from fire or Genies or gin as we say what in the world are the gin and how do they relate to the angels well as you said jins are are another God's creation but this time the Quran talks about them as being made from fire and again fire of course is another form of energy and we believe that the difference between of course the Jin and Angels is that Jin have free will whereas the angels of course are robotic they carry out the Divine command they cannot disobey and so the Gins are really similar to human beings in there in the sense of having the intelligence in having the free will and and and in many ways they are very similar to human human beings except they have different nature where they reside how they reside is is mystery mystery really we know that at the time of the Prophet you know the pro there is chapter in the Quran where it talks about the jins who heard the prophet reciting the Quran in the valley once and they accepted his religion and became Muslims can the the Angels be seen the Jin can't be seen understand but can the Angels be seen well the Angels can take human form we know that the two famous harut and marut the two angels who came to teach the Israelites Magic actually were in the form of human beings and and we know that Gabriel himself sometimes came to the prophet in the the form of particular one of the Disciples of the Prophet and and and so yes they can take human forms as well but no one apart from the prophets can actually you know be be sure that they are angels so if me and someone else claims that they've seen an angel you know we can have little laugh at them and say okay well you might have yes that's okay but it's not it's not everyday occurrence
