because no matter what anybody says sight words can be sounded out in this video am going to show you how to teach sight words like the word come so that you know how to teach other sight words to your little one as well and am on my computer I'm looking at the different Sight Word videos that exist on YouTube and they are not great don't know why you watch them and would not do this with your child okay so just know what I'm going to show you is going to be little bit different than the other information you are getting but it is going to be much better and it's going to help your child learn not just this word but all of those other words on the list too because no matter what anybody says sight words can be sounded out yes there are some parts that are tricky but there are many parts of the word that your child actually can sound out they can learn and when you connect the sounds they already know to that word it's going to help them remember that word lot better so even if they're getting sent home with the list of 100 or 200 words whatever ridiculous number it is you can actually be more confident that your child is going to know each of the words on that list and I'm going to do this with my little buddies here before get to my little buddies want to just do quick quick lesson for you as the parent on what words you can and can't sound out so let's take word like this there's three sounds and this is the word can every one of these letters says exactly what it's supposed to can this is word that is going to happen lot in books it's going to come up in almost any book your child reads and some teachers will put this word can on sight words list they'll say you know what this word's gonna happen lot it's just gonna pop up so let's learn it let's memorize it and me disagree with it if it is word like this that is super duper simple it's easy to read can it and read words like this don't memorize them don't spend any time on them don't practice them at all cross those words off the list send it back to school the words we're focused on here are words that are little bit trickier these are the words that we teach directly to our kid words like come and these are going to help them read other words like it like sun so now that we've got that established these are going to be tricky words not any words and we're actually going to be focused on sounding them out let me show you exactly how to do this with our little friends over here so let's try reading this word together what sound does this letter make that's right and how about this letter right here good job again that one says and remember at the end of words what does that usually do right usually that is silent so all three letters are going to say exactly what they normally say but this word is little bit tricky because this isn't going to say it's not going to say in this word it says so let's try reading this word with an in the middle ready okay go ahead that's right put it together that's right stay fast come great work so that's it we keep it short and sweet we explain to them the parts that they know we explain the parts that are little bit more tricky and we always focus on these words that are little bit harder to sound out if you want my full list of what call tricky words and exactly how teach them you can check out my reading books course there's ton more resources there and if you want more free resources on sight words I've got couple videos already I'll link one of those videos for you after this video finishes and if this was helpful for you please make sure to subscribe to my page so you can see my new videos when post them
