Science Grade 5 Light Electrical Energy

النص الكامل للفيديو

hello boys and girls of grade five as we continue today in our science lesson we're going to continue to look at energy and today we're going to look at electrical energy in our objective we would be able to examine the various forms of energy in order to identify and describe specific energy transformation identify the types of electricity and finally identify safety measures when using electricity now electricity is form of energy correct electricity is form of energy and it is measured in kilowatt hours the path through which electrons or we say current flow is called circuit and you boys and girls would have made circuit earlier down in grade three and four yes with the wire and the battery and the bulb that is simple circuit so let's continue electricity is produced when current is flowing in the same direction the sources of electricity have two poles and they are yes the positive pole and the negative pole we can tell if current or electrons is flowing or not in circuit by adding an electric bulb correct so we can tell if current or electrons is flowing or not in circuit by adding an electric bulb if the current or the electricity is flowing the bulb will light yes the bulb will light if the current or the electricity is not flowing the bulb will not light correct current can cause objects to do the following current can cause or produce heat it produces light current can produce sun current can make objects move they can even cause shock current also cause or make pictures let us look at the two types of electricity we have the static electricity and we have current electricity now what is static electricity static electricity refers to electricity that is in something but it does not move or go anywhere it remains one place all of the time and does not flow one place to the next static electricity can be produced by rubbing two surfaces together for example by rubbing plastic pen or wooden material we say they cannot conduct electricity they are called non-conductors or insulators non-conductors or insulators are those materials that do not allow electricity to flow through them examples of some insulators are rubber plastic wood leaves and paper current electricity what is current electricity now current electricity is the use of battery or generator to push electrons through conductor like copper wire the strength of the push is called the voltage yes the strength of the push is called the voltage current electricity can be represented by simple circuit current electricity refers to electricity that will allow current to flow from one end to the next it is produced when current is flowing in the same direction materials that allow current to flow through them are called conductors yes the materials that allow current to flow through them are called conductors some examples of conductors are metals metals examples copper pins razor blades paper clips etc safety in using electricity in the home electricity used in our homes can be extremely dangerous the following rules should help you to avoid the danger first never use electricity from main point to do experiment never put anything other than plug in an electrical point do not use faulty electrical switches do not use electricity with wet hands never expose electrical wires never change an electrical fuse let qualified person do it these are some simple safety rules that we can follow in our homes to avoid any accidents simple circuit simple circuit is path through which current or electrons flow the parts of simple circuit are the switch the cell which we refer to as batteries wire on the bulb now the diagram that you're looking at is showing the battery where we have positive and negative the wire leading to the bulb and we also have the switch there and this is called simple circuit the different types of simple circuit we're going to look at four of them the closed circuit open circuit series circuit and parallel circuit now the diagrams that we're looking at is showing us parallel circuit and the one on your right is showing you series parallel combination circuit now the closed circuit is circuit which allows current or electrons to flow through it and causes the bulb to light it is complete circuit open or incomplete circuit an open or incomplete circuit does not allow current to flow because the part is broken let us now look at series circuit series circuit is circuit where the negative pole of one end of the cell is connected to the positive pole of another cell when cells are connected in series the bulb will light brighter series circuit only provides one path for electricity to flow if the circuit is broken in series circuit the bulb will not light also if the switch is turned off none of the bulbs will light only one switch is used in series circuit unlike parallel circuit parallel circuits are those circuits where the cells or batteries are connected parallel to each other they are connected in branch in parallel circuits the positive pole is connected to the positive pull and the negative pull is connected to the negative pole in parallel circuit each bulb is connected separately if current does not pass through one bulb the other bulb will still light we can control the lighting of each bulb without affecting the other by using separate switches this would have brought us to the end of this lesson on electricity hope you can identify now the two types of electricity which are static electricity and current electricity also you can be able to identify some safety rules that we can use in our homes am smart in artist sample saying so long for now be safe bye you
