Hello beautiful people. Today I'm going to be working on painting that started quite long time ago. was thinking about how have large collection of unfinished projects and mentally referred to myself as creative wind-up toy. Now actually think that's very accurate and needed to share it with you because maybe you relate if you are like me and you want everything done all at once immediately. Hey, first of all unrealistic and second of all probably why the projects are left unfinished. I'll get an idea, I'll get all this energy and then use it all in one go and then stop because place so much expectation on the outcome and then like just like use out all my energy until the wind-up toy like runs out of the the wind-up. You know what I'm saying? So today I'm finishing one of those projects which is awesome and it actually didn't start out as anything that placed expectation on. was actually painting with my dad in our backyard and had decided upon squirrel because we have some friendly squirrels that often visit our backyard. We have grapevine so in the spring they like to come and steal all the grapes. It's been sitting on my desk and as I've been looking at it got this idea to take one of the little woodland creatures that sketch and have it ride the squirrel around. thought that would be adorable. So went through my old sketches of like little woodland creatures and picked one out that thought seemed suitable to be the squirrel rider guess. don't know. These little woodland creatures that have haven't sketched them in long time but that's how the ongoing series that call within our woods began was just creating bunch of these little creatures in my sketchbook and then it got to the point where wanted to explore and experiment. So I've been doing lot more painting with the within our woods. You know have like few different projects within this series that are just kind of ongoing and if do, you know, place lot of expectation on them will burn out. So instead I'm kind of jumping around between them and letting it be enjoyable, letting it be an experiment, letting it be fun because that's why began in the first place. guess I'm realizing that expectation ruins the creative process and have lots of expectations and place lots of pressure on myself to reach those within short period of time and do it with excellence because I'm perfectionist apparently. I'm here to tell you because need to hear this right now. You're not running out of time. We have right to enjoy the things we enjoy without making them into something that suits the productive materially rewarding instant gratification kind of blueprint that we've become accustomed to and just because you see people on social media posting, you know, their accomplishments, what they do, how much they can create, how much they can convert, how much they can accomplish at young age in short time from an idea. It's not all real first of all and it does not have anything to do with you. Sometimes need to get off my phone. actually really like delete Instagram and redownload it so often. Anyways, after finish creating this little guy which will come back to it and I'll do the background and details but I'm going to go on walk. love going on walks and it kind of gives you that perspective that Wait, okay. How do explain this? love going on walks because look outside and see nature and realize that the earth is not in rush and as part of that why am forcing myself to sort of bloom before spring? Okay, metaphors. think you get what mean. Now this is not something that would recommend with acrylic paint but did do the background second. know that's controversial especially when show my dad my pieces or the progress I'm making on them. it's not the correct order but that is how did it. It's funny in this time lapse you can actually see the light changing because the sun kept moving in and out from behind the clouds so just don't mind that. wanted to have this tree in the background act as the forest creature's house so made little entrance and then covered the rest with foliage just to ground the piece. also added little orange flowers because thought that it would bring nice contrast to the just overwhelming amount of green that have used. and didn't really define the squirrel's feet because when painted this while ago like mix all my own colors so had feeling wouldn't be able to replicate the palette that used for the squirrel. So did more of just the shape of them and then covered it with some of the grass so you can't really see it. But really do like how this piece turned out. think it's super cute. It's not very polished or refined but the imagery and the story it tells for me makes it. So I'd love to know what you think. Mhm.
