hi all we meet again this time we will learn about the faces edges and vertices of 3d shapes what 3d shapes have faces are they pretty yes they are pretty just like you thank you anyways first of all just in case if you forgot am cube and am cone and am sphere look at us can you tell how the three of us look differently don't have flat face or flat surface that is correct sphere here does not have flat surface it has only one curved face every 3d shape has one or more flat surfaces with the exception of sphere here just like me even though look like have only one curved face do have one flat surface hold on let me do flip there this is my flat surface interesting right do you know what's the difference between flat surface and curved face shape with flat surface can stay still on top of other flat surfaces while curved face could roll away correct like this don't have curved face therefore cannot roll but have many flat faces let's count them one two three four five six that's right cube has six flat faces some 3d shapes also have edges do you know what an edge is an edge is the place where two flat faces meet edges are straight they cannot be curved look at this this is one of my edges let's count my edges 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 yes cube has 12 edges hey don't forget about vertices right vertex is the place where there are two or more edges meet look at this this is where my edge one edge two and edge three meet this point is called vertex have more than one vertex they are called vertices let's count how many vertices have one two three four five six seven eight yep cube has eight vertices can you help us identify how many faces edges and vertices we have great let's start with me have one curved face and flat surface but don't have any edges which means cone has one curved face one flat face and zero edges and vertices next is me am pyramid have one two three four five faces also have one two three four five vertices so pyramid has five faces pyramid has five faces eight edges five vertices i'm next do you remember my name yes am cylinder good job have one curved face and have one two flat surfaces don't have any edges though which means also don't have any vertices so cylinder has one curved face two flat surfaces zero edges cylinder has one curved face two flat surfaces zero edges and am cuboid look similar to cube but cube has the same length of edges have some different length of edges look at us cube cuboid similar but different right have one two three four five six faces and have one two three four five six 7 8 9 10 11 12 edges also have 1 2 3 4 five six seven eight vertices so just like cube cuboid also has six faces twelve edges and eight vertices cuboid has six faces twelve edges and eight vertices i'm back let's count how many different flat surfaces have yeah have zero flat surfaces which means have no edges nor vertices so sphere has one curved face zero flat surfaces zero edges and zero vertex hope we learned something new today don't forget to check out our other videos and remember please subscribe to noodle kids channel
