Sarai, Abrams wife, had no children. Her heart longed deeply for one. She had an Egyptian maid named Hagar, loyal and obedient in all. Sarai said, "The Lord has kept me from bearing child." She pleaded with Abram, "Go to Hagar and bear child." Abram listened to Sarai's voice and accepted her suggestion in silence. Sarai gave Hagar to Abram as second wife in Canaan. Hagar conceived and began to despise Sarai in her heart. Sarai blamed Abram for her suffering. Feeling betrayed and hurt deeply. Abram responded, "She's your servant. Do what seems right to you. Sarai treated Hagar harshly and Hagar fled into the wilderness. Alone and desperate, Hagar found spring of water in shore. The angel of the Lord appeared to Hagar beside the spring. Hagar Sarai's maid, where are you from and where going? Hagar replied, flee from my mistress Sarai's harshness. The angel said, "Return and submit to her authority again. will multiply your descendants. They shall be countless in number. You are with child and shall name him Ishmael. For the Lord has heard your suffering and seen your tears. He will be wild man living free among all his brothers." Hagar cried out, "You are the God who sees me." The spring was named Beer La Hyroy, meaning well of the living one. Hagar returned with strength, carrying the promise of son inside. Sarai received her silently. The tension thick, but peace restored. Time passed, and Hagar's pregnancy came to full term. Hagar gave birth to son, just as the angel foretold. Abram named the child Ishmael, acknowledging God's divine message. Ishmael's name meant God hears, reminder of answered prayers. Hagar now knew that even the outcast is seen by God. Sarah watched the child, mix of awe and wonder inside. Though tensions remained, God's plan continued unfolding through every heart. Abram was 86 when Ishmael was born. God's promise had begun. God had plan. Even through broken choices and human weakness, Ishmael's birth was part of greater unfolding divine covenant. Every promise from God carries purpose. Even in our waiting, God sees, hears, and fulfills. No story is forgotten by him.
