foreign is the natural environment in which an organism lives habitat provides the organism with resources necessary for its survival such as food water shelter and space to live and reproduce it can be as large as forest or as small as leaf for certain insects let's look at some different types of habitats forests these are habitats filled with trees and can be categorized further into types like rainforests deciduous forests and boreal forests animals such as Bears deer and many species of birds and insects live in Forest habitats oceans covering over 70 percent of the Earth's surface oceans are vast habitats with wide variety of life examples of creatures living in Ocean habitats include fish whales and countless species of invertebrates like Crustaceans octopuses squid and jellyfish deserts these are dry habitats that receive very little rainfall despite harsh conditions animals like the camel desert fox and various reptiles and insects have adapted to live in desert environments grasslands these habitats are dominated by grasses and have few large Trees Animals such as lions zebras and elephants can be found in grassland habitats particularly in the African Savanna other grassland animals include foxes rabbits and diverse array of insects polar regions these are extremely cold habitats found in the Arctic and Antarctic polar bears Penguins seals and orcas are examples of animals that have adapted to life in these frigid conditions Tundras hundreds are found in extremely cold regions of the world mostly in the far Northern areas of North America and Europe Tundras are really cold places with not much rain yet many kinds of organisms still exist here animals like arctic foxes polar bears caribou and snowy owls of small plants like dwarf shrubs grasses mosses and lichens all manage to live in this tough environment urban areas these are man-made habitats many animals such as pigeons rats and even raccoons have adapted to live in our cities and towns urban areas often have parks and Gardens which are filled with variety of plants these green spaces become thriving habitat for many insects and other small invertebrates offering them food and shelter admits the city's concrete structures each of these habitats despite their differences provide the essentials food Water Shelter and space needed for the survival of the organisms that live within them don't forget to subscribe
