Quick Tip Lightning Fast Coloring with Live Paint

hello and welcome to another Vector TS video quick tip tutorial I'm Sean Kelly and today we'll be looking at using the live paint bucket tool to color your characters so I'm using the artwork that made from the last Quick tip tutorial and I've set up swatches palette of the colors that I'm going to be using today I'm going to shift select my swatches go down to my options and click Global so making my colors into Global colors and we'll see what that does at the end of this process so as you can see my icon has number of colors at the top with one color selected can change the current selected color by hitting the left and right arrow keys scrolling through my swatches okay so I'm going to select my artwork so it's the whole thing so I'm going to hit command to select all and then clicking within the artwork we'll fill it with the selected color as scroll over new section you'll see that that it highlights with the current layer color so you always know where your new color is going to drop in so here I've sped up the process by four times just so it's not so boring watching me drop in colors but as reminder what I'm doing is I'm using the light paint bucket tool the right and left arrows to select colors and simply scrolling over and dropping in colors at the appropriate points okay so once you've gone through and colored your character we'll just assess how that is and perhaps we'll like to recolor some of the sections so these swatches being Global swatches it means we have bit more freedom with them so can change select new color so say some kind of olive green okay now holding down option and dragging the Swatch can completely change areas of that color which gives you great deal of freedom in your coloring so remembering that using Swatch group and using the left and right arrow keys scrolling through and the live paint bucket tool cool just dropping in colors there's particularly quick and easy way to cell shade or cell color your characters or artwork so hope you've enjoyed this quick tip tutorial and I'll see you next time
