hi 2nd graders it's me miss yancy and today we are going to be working on subtracting two digits from two digits and we are going to be using the algorithm today so we're going to review this now in our video so that when you do this lesson with your teacher you will remember exactly what to do so it says do you remember how to subtract with regrouping let's review using the algorithm so have 63 dollars minus 37 we always always always start in the ones place when we subtract or add okay now here's the problem three minus seven is not possible if have three can't take away seven so i'm going to go over here to the tens place and i'm going to take one of the tens from this 60 okay so i'm going to cross off the six and i'm going to take that 10 so there will only be 5 left in the tens place and i'll move that group of 10 over to the ones place that will change this 3 into 13. so now have 13 minus 7 13 minus 7 well can count up put 7 in your head and count up until you get to 13. 7 8 nine ten eleven twelve thirteen six now need to do five minus three you can use your fingers for this one hold up five take away three and that leaves you with two left over now if you are working with money don't forget to add the correct sign or symbol we were using dollar bills for this subtraction problem so make sure you include dollar sign for your final answer which is 26 dollars all right you're going to try some of these kinds of problems today with your teacher bye see you later
