A Day in My Life Teaching remotely in Oman

so it's Wednesday teaching day for me which means have to pack all my stuff and cross town to head to my brother's place so could set up my technology and talk to my students over zoom because cannot do it in Qantab the internet is just not good enough over here for that so I'll show you what my day looks like it's Wednesday this is what do every Wednesday all right good morning so it is 8:10 a.m. I'm finally awake enough to show up on the video I've spent my morning checking my emails going through canvas to make sure that students have left comments or I'm responding to comments that need to be responded to what I'm gonna do right now and what love to do every morning is to get workout and the closer get to nine o'clock the more unbearable it is how hot is it right now well it is 87 degrees actually you know might take some breaks today while while run and show you what my views are alright let's get started first stop is always to check out the goats love them they walk around town they eat everything sometimes they'll stop say hi to you sometimes they'll run away but it's perfect break to my run to get to talk to them for little bit good morning guys okay hey buddy it's breakfast time so for all of you that are interested this is what my quote-unquote office looks like while I'm here in Oman you will notice new addition microphone this is where spend eight to ten hours day just sitting at my table over here with my computer and really not much exciting to document there but take my word for it woke up this morning and got prepared for my class prepared next week's material as well so could communicate that to the students and went for run to 4.5 mile run so now I'm going to head to Madinat al Allam so enjoy the ride all right so I'm in the car had to wait little bit because it's so hot and humid in Qantab that the lens on the camera got foggy but ready to make the track so it's bit of winding and you know we'll weave through some mountains so enjoy the ride so I'm at my brother's place I'm going to get set up I'll show you what the setup looks like hopefully for what my online class looks like think that's much better think I'm ready to teach class class is in three hours so I'm going to get prepped have some coffee get excited for class so much to talk about talking about unemployment today if you haven't seen my videos on unemployment check them out this Friday is an important Friday as well so keep an eye on jobs Friday that's coming up this Friday we'll figure out what's happening with the U.S. unemployment rate how many jobs were created where does the economy currently stand just got done with my weekly meet up with my students it was engaging fun it's really great to connect with the students and hear how they're processing the information how the content is coming alive to them and how they're seeing in their everyday life always leave these discussions feeling energized makes me miss being in the classroom but I'm super proud of how my students are handling all the content all their feedback they they actually had lot of feedback on how to make the course more engaging they wanted more content and at the end of the day it's about hearing what the students need and making sure that facilitate and create that environment for them to thrive and learn the most that they can told them today that my job is not to make the content or the rigor easier my job is to make it so that the learning is easier they were were eager about some of the changes that we're going to make in the class I'm excited about it and I'll look for what happens it's 6:45 p.m on Wednesday and now could go into Thursday and Friday creating the content for the next couple of weeks with the energy that have and all this excitement so good day now it's time to drive back to Qantab well first of all got to pack up everything another week of class almost done can't believe it's already three weeks of the semester 14 more to go
