Add Three and Four Two Digit Numbers with Regrouping 1 st and 2 nd Grade Math Lesson

think there's some dust on the lens hey we're live hey welcome to the show today on the show we are going to be adding three and four two-digit numbers stay tuned hey welcome back to the show today in the show we are adding all these numbers right here we have one two three two digit numbers that we're going to add and later in the show we're going to be adding four of these two-digit numbers but don't get worried we're gonna break it apart and i'm gonna give you some strategies on how to solve this problem so one strategy or two strategies is that we're gonna try to look for doubles or we're gonna try to make the number 10 but like always we're going to start adding the ones and we have bunch of numbers here but don't get confused all right we can cover those up know it looks intimidating that means it looks little scary but we can solve this together okay so by covering this up we're adding the ones first remember this is the ones group right here and this is the tens all right when we add two digit numbers we always add the ones first so we're going to add the ones first in this column here so when cover this up now have only three numbers have to add and one strategy like to do right away is like to see if can find some numbers that will equal 10 because when add 10 plus any number it's easier for me to add so let's see if we can find number 10 in this so 3 plus 4 is 7. well if did 7 and 7 that would be 14. there i'm doing double fact so could do it that way or can do 7 plus 3 equals 10 and then 10 plus 4 equals 14. either way is good whatever way you prefer so i'm going to do 10 plus 4 is 14. so then put the 4 here carry the 1 up in here so now add the 10s and if you want to you can use piece of paper sometimes i'll use like sticky note and now cover all those scary intimidating numbers over on that side and i'm gonna add the tens all right so whoops i'm sorry kind of erased number right here so let's go ahead we're going to add one two three four five all right so 17 plus 23 plus 14 equals 54. all right ready to do another one let's do it yeah all right we got another problem here we have 22 plus 12 plus 15. now i'm not going to use the paper but on your problems you are welcome to do that right away start adding the ones so look for strategy all right see if can find 10 or double don't see any ten like five plus two would be seven nope let's do two plus two and kind of draw like little line that kind of helps me out so 2 plus 2 is 4. that's double and 4 plus 5 equals you got it 9. so put 9 right here do carry anything no it's not 19. it's just nine so don't need to regroup that's our second step our first step is add the ones second step is regroup if needed and your third step is add the tens don't need to regroup so let's go ahead and add the tens right now have two three and four all right 49 and you notice when i'm doing this do two three and four now i'm not just teaching actually say the numbers and would like for you when you are doing your work to say the numbers it's really helping your brain grow and get used to adding numbers little bit quicker and easier all right let's do another problem yeah do it all right we got our next number we have 18 plus 10 plus 32 all right let's look for 10 hey eight plus two that's ten zero yeah we don't have to worry about that that's nothing all right eight plus two ten all right like to write sometimes one zero all right ten remember regroup now we are going to add the tens three four five six the answer is 60. you guys are awesome all right let's do another one yeah let's do my gummy gumdrop look at this we got four sets of numbers we have 12 plus 19 plus 21 plus 17. that's lot don't get worried calm down take deep breath let's do it yeah we can do it all right what do we do first add the ones all right if you need to you can cover that up so it doesn't look too scary but think we can handle it all right all right let's take look at strategy look to see if you can find doubles looking to see if you can make right away i've found to see 10 have plus 1. that's 10 all right but let's see if there's any other choices here like said can do 9 plus 1 equals 10. all right want to see if there's another choice so erase that little dirty all right let's go 7 8 9 10. all right that's taken out three numbers would rather take out as many numbers as can at first so let's take out these three numbers so we have 7 plus 1 is 8 9 10 there's 10 right there then bring that 9 over here 9 plus 10 boom nineteen all right put the nine here and the one up here okay now we have to add the tens let's do it yeah two three four five six don't forget that one up on top all right sometimes people forget that one up there all right again two three four five six there you go 69 12 plus 19 plus 21 plus equals 69. how'd you do you did good ready for another one yeah let's do it all right we got another one four sets of numbers 13 plus 22 plus 42 plus 16. we can do it know we can yeah all right look for 10. let's look for 10. you see here we right away see that we have double 2 plus 2. all right 2 plus 2 is cuatro uno dos turdes cuatro two plus two is four yeah four plus six is ten all right are you following me on that two plus two is four six plus four is ten and three plus ten thirteen super easy cheesy lemon squeezy all right three put the one up there don't forget to regroup all right now we add the tens let's do it four five six seven eight nine four five six seven eight nine all right you'll notice when am adding like to add the biggest number first works out easier for me think it'll work out easier for you ready to do another one know you are let's do it yeah all right you ready to do another one there superstar all right we got four more groups of two digit numbers we have 11 plus 25 plus 33 plus 13. all right do you remember what we do we're going to look for an easy cheesy way to do add up the ones all right we might have to look for double or 10. so let's see what we got here we got 5 plus 1 what is that 5 plus 1 is 6. what is 3 plus 3 uno dos 3 cinco says yeah 3 plus 3 equals 6. trying to teach you little spanish along the way all right you're doing good muy bueno muy bien all right six plus six twelve all right we have to regroup put that one up there excellente all right we'll be in all right now we're going to add the tens okay let's add the tens up here like to add the biggest number first so that would be three all right four five six seven eight all right mathematics always like to recheck so i'm gonna do that again three four five six seven eight don't forget that one up there hey when you're doing math you gotta make math fun you do you got to draw it out put lines you know draw some figures out make it fun and then
