Aligning fastener holes with a taper punch drift

hey guys over little cos you would say you want bit of work on the back of the car here have my frame repair piece made up drilled off and ready to install I've cut out the crossmember where need relief for reverse ring gear I'm gonna need to do some additional welding here once everything is installed so this is hybrid repair it's both mechanical fasteners and welding I'm gonna do the mechanical fasteners first to basically retain my dimensions of my brain so problem very common to doing this type of work is you go drill off your holes and you're using closed tolerance holes because your fastener calls for it and lot of the design characteristics of fastener rely on very close tolerance hole so if you have out-of-round hole if you will you lose you lose fatigue life ultimate shear and tensile strength lot of things go downhill if you don't have the proper hole for fastener so I've drilled everything off and things are not installing no surprise there what you want to avoid doing is getting your drill and creating an egg shape hole figure 8 or oval hole in both pieces of metal and you think you're creating round hole but you're really not you already have round holes so way to avoid that is get pin punch and slowly rotate it so you've moved this piece around as you can see and your fasteners should drop right in that way you have proper hole the fastener will install properly and you have not degraded the quality of hole whatsoever all right thanks for watching
