Chapter 14 Islam in East Africa The Entire History of Islam

The 14th chapter of this book is dedicated entirely to East Africa. and felt the need to split this chapter from West Africa because it has such very different history. Here you'll find lot of naval empires such as the Ajuran and the Adel empires of Somalia. For example, the Somali really they were the masters of the oceans with influences that reached all the way to China where they were even doing trade and spreading their soft power with them. even sending giraffes as gifts to the Chinese emperors. by the way, one of my favorite facts about Somalia is that there is mazjid in the north with twoas, one for Mecca and one for Jerusalem. That means that there were enough Muslims in the region before the was changed to Mecca that they had masjid built before that. So inshallah I'll also track down how exactly the Somalians became Muslim as well as the different tribes of Ethiopia and Aritria. because there's lot of fascinating history there. like for example the Oromo people how they were this invading mass that came out of nowhere unknown to the locals. They just eventually settled down in the region and accepted Islam. the Oromo people being one of the tribes in Ethiopia right now. Of course, Ethiopia also has quite long history with Islam since the first Hijra was actually to Ethiopia. So, I'll try to track down who exactly the Nashi was and where the Muslims most likely lived in the region as well as if they actually managed to spread Islam to the locals or not. actually do know the answer to that last question as I've already done the research. So, I'll add that to the book inshallah. But the short answer is they weren't really able to spread it much. because they were for some political reasons they were confined to particular area. But then of course there's the more difficult part of East African history as there was large slave trade in that region that Muslims were involved in. So, as do in the rest of the book, will actually fully explain what exactly happened objectively. what the Islamic position is on these things, what was done according to Islam and what things were done that broke the laws of Islam, what things that were done that were haram, for example. And I'll also give you perspective on how slave trades affect the economy and why, for example, the British were they decided to ban it in the end. And I'll also even talk about the history of slavery bans within our own Islamic tradition. And finally, you have the history of the nations of Sudan in the north and Kenya and Uganda and Tanzania in the south. here you'll find lot of Muslim history, both incredibly rich and incredibly strange. For example, there was whole rebellion in Sudan, led by guy who claimed to be the Mai. and there was sultanate in Mosmbique which may have been sending ships to do trade with nations as far away as Australia.
