ALL English present tenses explained in 7 minutes including Present Perfect

Welcome to my channel so in this video we will be talking about all the different present tenses in english but first want you to leave me comment and let me know what do you think is the most difficult present tense to learn in english so today we'll be talking about the present continuous the present simple the present perfect and the present perfect continuous so which one do you think is the most difficult leave me comment to let me know now i'm going to talk to you about coffee because it's something that really enjoy and i'm going to talk to you about coffee to illustrate how we can use all the different present tenses in english so usually have one coffee in the morning and then have one coffee later on in the morning and also third coffee in the afternoon so usually drink three coffees every day know it's quite lot but just really like it so when we talk about things that we do every day habits or actions that we repeat regularly we use the present simple tense so drink three coffees every day it's something do daily that's why need the present simple am drinking coffee right now it's something that's happening right now continuous action in this very moment am drinking coffee so that's the present continuous and it's something we use to talk about continuous actions happening right now so have special machine in my kitchen that makes really good coffee and have had this machine for about year now so have had it that's the present perfect and we use the present perfect to talk about something that started in the past and is still true now so have had the coffee machine for year have made coffee using this machine for the last year have made it's something that have done started doing it in the past and still do it now it's still true now so have made it and have had it for year now have been trying to make coffee for the last five minutes there seems to be something wrong with my machine and started making coffee five minutes ago and i'm still making it now so have been trying to make it have been making it for five minutes it's the present perfect continuous tense and we use it to talk about continuous action that started in the past and is still happening now we're talking about the whole period of time between when it started and now so have been trying to make coffee for the last five minutes and it's not working don't know what to do okay so what's the difference between i'm making coffee and have been making coffee am making coffee is the present continuous it's to talk about just this moment just now am making coffee right now have been making coffee is the present perfect continuous it's something that started in the past and it's still happening now but want to emphasize that i'm talking about the whole period so not just now the whole period between when started making coffee and now the whole five minutes and that is the difference the present continuous is just about now and the present perfect continuous is about something that started in the past and it's still happening now it's about the whole period so what's the difference between make coffee every morning and have made coffee using my coffee machine for the last year make coffee is regular action that repeat every day it's habit have made coffee is to talk about the whole period of time so when started last year and now it's the present perfect i'm talking about the whole period between when it started and now and it's still true now but i'm talking about the whole period not just now okay so to recap we've got the present continuous which is about continuous action right now i'm drinking coffee the present simple which is about habit or repeated action that you do regularly drink three coffees every day the present perfect which is about something that started in the past and it's still true now it's regular thing or habit have made coffee using this machine for the last year every day and the present perfect continuous which is about continuous action that started in the past and is still happening right now so have been drinking this coffee for the last 10 minutes started 10 minutes ago and i'm still drinking it now there is one more phrase that you can use to talk about the present in english and it's the phrase tend to tend to is to talk about tendencies things that are usually true say for example tend to get up at seven and tend to make my coffee at eight so that means usually get up at seven that is what happens most days and also make my coffee at eight most days tend to do that so hope you found this video useful these are the different ways in which you can talk about the present in english and don't forget to leave me comment and tell me which present tense in english is the most difficult one to learn i'm interested to know what you think and i'll see you in the next video bye
