Hey there, my name is Maya. I'm tattoo artist and today I'm going to be teaching you guys how create flash sheet from the very beginning to the very end. There are so many different ways to do things. This is just the way that have been doing flash sheets recently. This also changes with my mood, with the season, with where I'm at artistically. But right now, this is how created this flash sheet. The biggest thank you to Mumi 2551 for this sweet ass comment. Maya, you're so cool. Thank you. love your fits, too. You should totally do another draw flash sheet with be vid when you get the opportunity. Love seeing all the sick stuff you come up with. Boommy, thank you so much for that comment. I'm going to go ahead and do that. Last week said would make flash sheet. So, I'm here. I'm going to make flash sheet and take you guys through the process of what it's like to sit down and try and create something like this. This first evening, only have like an hour and half left in the day before want to like get to bed and So, just want to sketch. So, super typically, am sketching in small sketchbook like this. really like being able to visualize things in just like little panel like this. guess was thinking about maybe doing sketchbook tour. So, let me know if that's something you want to see cuz have bunch of dead ones and would not mind whipping that out. think that would be super fun. Usually do this kind of in sketchbook, but because want to visualize whole page, I'm just going to start with copy paper and just start sketching. Just start sketching. Right now, I'm just writing down some ideas that have. I'm very inspired by critters and nature, kind of like dark, whimsical stuff and whatnot. So, I'm kind of I'm kind of drawn to the sea right now. I'm not sure why, but really want to make like fishy flash sheet, think. So, I'm writing down some ideas that had just now. really want to draw whale. really want to draw another jellyfish because am just am loving those bad boys. have weird thing for like tentacled critters. It's like squids, octopi. think it would be really fun to put out Let's make it fun, dude. Let's make it fun. Maybe should do nautilus. should do nautilus. Got Nautilus tattoo. Look at that bad boy. Okay. Nautilus. Nautilus. After had my list of critters all sorted out, just started the process of sketching. literally just as loosey goosey as possible. started drawing this fish head and then everything just kind of flowed after. didn't really get lot of clips of me actually sketching. So, it kind of skips from this fish head to all of sudden have all of the sketches done. Yeah. So, these are the sketches that got done. This one's like little bit more all over the place with the placement like but yeah. So, I'm going to move on to phase two of making flash sheet. And because just like to sketch and these are all random sizes, right? Like this wouldn't work in flash sheet very well. What's going on? actually like to use my iPad in my artistic process when make flash sheet. Not for like the rendering. Like don't like mine to be digitally rendered, but like to have an actual traditional art piece. like all these on the wall are literally like this is watercolor painting with watercolor paper. This is marker paper. This is watercolor paper. Marker paper. Those are just the ones that have hanging up. How do get these sketchy looking ass okay, onto piece of paper and make it all cohesive for me? like to do this part on my iPad. And I'll show you how. I'll show you what I'm about to do. I'm about to import those pictures that just took of my sketches onto my iPad. I'm about to import those into Procreate. Going to the actions tab. I'm going to add. I'm gonna hit insert photo. I'm gonna just select the ones that just took and throw them into my program. like to get rid of the background. And like to do it by I'll go to the adjustments and I'll go to hue, saturation, and brightness. I'll bring that brightness like up pretty significantly. bring the saturation down like all the way like so so so so so bright so that all that background if you can tell this is it before and this is it after this is up at 65% brightness right now. Okay. And then I'm going to go to that save adjustments panel. And then I'm just going to hit curves. And just like to take this little curve right here down at the very bottom. I've just noticed it gives it like lot darker definition. It just brings the sketch back to life little bit. don't want it completely be gone cuz I'm going to be using this to trace onto finished product. So, need to be able to tell what the line work is to transfer it to our traditional art paper. so this is like pretty good brightness for me personally. You can see there's no background or anything. It just looks like the sketch. And then this one, you know, it just has that papery background. just don't need that. I'm going to do the same thing to this one. So, I'm going to go into the adjustments. Brightness up, saturation down. This one didn't do it as well, but that's cool. need that, guess. Now we're cooking. Yeah, look at that. So, we have our sketches. I'm definitely wanting my flash sheet to be horizontal like this. Now, get to basically just like big puzzle. I'm just going to start moving these around and resizing them and making everything look how want it to. am just going to grab all of these individual pieces and put them on their own layers. I'm just going to use this freehand tool here and I'm just going to cut it out. To cut these out, just use that lasso tool around the outside and then hit copy and paste. And that just creates its own layer with just the things that you selected. like to operate from that space when I'm resizing these cuz it's lot easier if they're all on their own layer than if try and resize them all on one layer. I've just noticed it's so much easier that way. After you have your digital mockup on the iPad, now it's time for step three in my flash sheet making process, which is transferring this to an actual piece of art paper. At this point, like to use light table for couple reasons. One reason is if up my flash sheet and I'm doing the final piece, can actually restart because I'm just tracing. I'm tracing my sketch onto piece of art paper. So, if regret this, can easily start over, which is actually what ended up happening with this sheet in particular. started on this paper and then felt like messed it up. But because have my sketch layer as an actual piece of paper, could easily start over with no problems. And the other reason that use light table is just for me, the feel of it is really ideal. love having something super stable underneath my line drawing. just really like the way it feels to make my line work on top of sketch on light table. If you don't know what light table is, it's literally just little paperass looking sheet that just illuminates. So, this just lights up my paper from underneath and it's really obvious what is happening under there and can just fully put my line drawing on top of this blurred sketchy image of my flash sheet. Step four in the flash sheet making process is going to be getting our line drawing done and transferred. So, let's get to it. wanted to make this flash sheet watercolor. And every time make watercolor flash sheet or just any watercolor piece, always use Micron Pigma pens. The ink never smudges for me when use watercolor. There's lot of other brands that smudge so bad, but love the Micron pens and they're pretty similar to tattoo needle sizes. So, really like using them. So, it's basically like practicing for the real tattoo. This channel doesn't make any money and I'm not sponsored in any way by any of the products that I've mentioned today. These are just things I've been using for years, years, and years and years, years, years, years. Love these pens. While was making my line drawing, my light table stopped working. It's really weird touch pad and something up. So, had to run to the store. just got done in Michaels because in the last clip you saw my light pad die. So, think that something's wrong with the connector area of it because it usually works just fine, but it's just coming on and then just flipping off very randomly. And have to finish this video. so had to go on little epic quest to my Michaels and got light pad just now. It was such beautiful experience, dog. Like, first of all, I'm too excited. want to show you guys what got. ended up getting this Cricut bright pad and talking to couple of like the employees and they were just really sweet in there. So cute. one was really excited about getting to help me pick out light pad and she was telling me like all the pros and cons of all of them. The one that ended up getting is actually cordless, which is what sold me on it the most because I'd be traveling so much and wanting to make art. So, if can have portable light table and take that with me anywhere, think it was worth the extra dollars that paid for it. This is going to be huge staple in my setup. So, don't mind getting really nice one. Like, the other one has served me pretty well, but it was like given to me. It wasn't even mine, but it's just time to upgrade, which is exciting. Now, can go back home and keep working on this flash sheet. also made yogurt bowl earlier, and I'm going to eat that. Let's go, boy. no. really. Okay, I'll see you at home. It's drop deadad gorgeous. It's just my good. mean, it's even like blue. That's my favorite color. Bad ass. Bad ass. And the best part is that it's actually working. yeah. yeah. Wow. This is so much better than my other one. Dude, I'm kind of glad the other one broke. What the heck? wouldn't have this sick ass light table if it didn't break. And after my epic quest, just finally actually got this stinking line drawing all finished up. Which leads us to the final step in my flash sheet making process, which is watercolor painting for this one. Anyway, just actually getting it fully rendered out. have been absolutely loving this little mini palette by Windsor and Newton. literally take this with me everywhere. It's very limited color palette because it is super small, but typically only use the black right now. Sometimes I'll experiment with the colors, but because want these to transfer into smooth black and gray tattoos, watercolor is just the best thing that found for that. Okay, guys. finally finished up the flash sheet and I'm super excited to share it with you. Okay, guys. finished up the flash sheet and I'm super excited to share it with you. love the way that the bones are popping off the black behind this little fish one. love this nautilus one so much. The jellyfish is so sick, too. would want to use like greywash, but love his like he kind of looks like he's just doing like this sort of thing. love it. my gosh, the whale. Insane. The clam so funky with little pearl in it and little fish behind the seaweed. even did fun border and stuff for this one. So, I'm really excited with how this turned out. Yes, eyeballs and tentacles are my two favorite things on this earth. don't know why, but they make me really happy. So, having eyeballs, tentacles, sea critters, and weird little teeth dudes all on one page, babe. Good stuff. And that's going to be the end of this week's video.
