took the seeds out of organic honey cake Apple pork put them inside this bag in moist paper towel for six weeks so let's take look and see what we got apple seeds do not have really good germination rate so just the fact that we got three out of five here is pretty good so each one of these guys can get their own cup to go in in case something happens with them and with any luck we're gonna have some apple tree sprouts quickly I'm going to take this first seed ever so gently put it in here put the Sprout facing up very lightly cover this up do the same for the rest of these seeds that sprouting these other ones are gonna go back in the fridge they may not germinate and to keep it moist we are using the plastic rack with the rubber band down here it's been about week and forgot about my apple tree put it behind the furnace with the little Greenhouse covers on there and this guy was trying to get up so went ahead moved this under to grow light took the others out of the fridge put them in the same cup with the clear plastic Greenhouse lid on there I'm gonna wait for these guys to come up and give them all some light for the next several days my apple trees were getting it but then tragedy struck don't know if it was Delia or my thick Tom Cat Berry but one of these cats decided to decapitate two of my seedlings but wasn't ready to give up on my apple trees just because didn't have heads went ahead and fitted my grow light setup with these cheap Dollar Store shower curtains it seems to keep the cats out of here so you look right there that's where the cat Spit It Off look at these little nodes popping out here they're gonna take over form new leader for this little apple tree so it's good we didn't give up too quick on it same thing with this little guy bit off right there got this new node coming out she's gonna be all right so got 100 germination out of my apple seeds so have six little apple seedlings living under the light for now still doing pretty good in these Solo cups after about two months now if do notice any problems I'm gonna Pat these guys up and put them into my taller girl area here where finish my plants off with Solo cups it's really important that you don't add too much water to here make sure this is completely dry for putting anything inside there and I'm giving them rain water the plan is late May these guys are going outside and in five or six years guess we're gonna figure out what we got low growing your own apple trees from seed maybe fun activity for you and your kids it is not reliable way to get the variety of Apple that you're looking for although these guys came out of Honeycrisp apple they are not gonna be honeycrisp apples if you want Honeycrisp apple go out buy yourself grafted tree this is fun because these are new varieties of apples more than likely these are going to grow up to be completely trash they could even be some kind of crab apple variant they could have small apples that don't taste good the odds really are against you the only way to tell for sure is to let them grow and see what happens so these guys are going to grow up you're going to see what they turn into and who knows maybe we'll be able to name our own Apple follow these steps to sprout some apple seeds and thanks for watching foreign
