so the big debate alpha phonics or 100 easy lessons which one's better welcome to plan prep pray hey girlie my name is wendy and am homeschooling stay-at-home mom of four little ones and on this channel talk about all things homeschooling home management kids empowerment and mommy self-care so subscribe hit the notification bell so you don't miss thing okay so today i'm going to talk about alpha phonics and teach your child to read in 100 easy lessons i'm going to talk about the differences between them and how use both stay to the end so can tell you which one think is the best all right so alpha phonics is set like this it's actually in book took my alphaphonics out of the book and cut it took off the binding and placed it in these plastic page protectors and put it all together with binder hook because found that my children tend to get overwhelmed by the looking at something like this which is you know one lesson to the next they would get super super overwhelmed by that and so by being able to take it out and just be like this is your sheet for today that really helped them to not be so overwhelmed by it big difference number one between the two is that alpha phonics is very much set up like that like you are going to see just words on sheet of paper you know and there's not much to it aside from that it's very simple in that sense you do get teacher's guide or instructions part but the instructions are like literally are like one paragraph you know and it's just telling you what is taught in that lesson and that's it so like this is lesson two this is lesson three this is lesson four and this is lesson five so it's super short like short paragraph telling you about what is taught in each lesson pretty much now when it comes to teach your child to read in 100 easy lessons now this book everything that the parent is supposed to say is in red and everything that and then with little hints in parentheses and then everything that the child is supposed to read is big it's bolded and it's very very apparent as to who is saying what and when they are saying it so the child tends to have bigger space to read and the parents is in red so like the bible like like when jesus talks in the bible it's red so like that that's one of the big differences between the two the other difference between the two is teach your child how to read is 100 lessons in alpha phonics is 128 lessons now don't let either one of them fool you none of these lessons can actually be done in day well there's some that can be done in day some lessons are short you can do them in day and some lessons your kid is just not gonna get it and you're gonna have to keep doing it over and over again for both of these curriculums so don't let the amount of lessons really deter you especially with alphaphonics this is this teaches your child how to read from zero to want to say at least third grade level by the time they're done and teach your child to read in one hundred lessons would say it teaches your child to maybe about second grade level by the time the child is done they're comparable so don't expect like we're going to do 100 lessons this year my child's going to be reading at third grade level some of these lessons are intense some of them are long so you're gonna need more time than that so that's the second big difference between the two so those are the two really big differences is that alpha phonics is lot more simple it's lot more plain and has 28 more lessons than 100 easy lessons but it also goes up to third grade level while 100 easy lessons goes up to about second grade level and one one other thing is 100 easy lessons does have some pictures they have pictures in certain lessons as you progress and you're supposed to cover the picture and when your child reads the passage then they get to uncover the picture to see what they just read pretty much and so that helps to make it little bit more fun and little bit more exciting now being somebody who's done both of these curriculums i'm going to tell you they both bring tears so have had tears with both of these curriculums unfortunately it has to do with this mama pushing little too much and just being young homeschooling mom and not realizing when enough is enough like your children tell you when enough is enough i've learned to really trust my child and really trust their instincts and their how they feel about certain things in deciding which curriculum to go with now for me what usually do is start off with alphaphonics when they're younger because alpha phonics tends to have more of the repetitive three-letter words that they can practice now do want to warn you they have lot of words that aren't real words which i'm not fan of because like for my kids to practice real words but you know it's practice it helps practice the letter sounds it helps practice the blending which is appreciated usually have them start off with that now at one point they just get done with the black and white and get done with the list with the pages of lists and lists of things to read honestly it's usually at like maybe less than like 70 you know we really get into it so at that point transitioned them over to 100 easy lessons then they get they get to point with 100 easy lessons when they're just done as well the furthest i've gotten in 100 easy lessons is to let's see lesson 62 so that's the furthest i've gotten and i've gone through this with two children and at that point will transition over to the good and the beautiful so depending on the age of the child depending on where the child is at so either transition over to their pre-k unit or kindergarten or level one i'll have them do the assessment on the good and the beautiful and i'll see where they're at and transition them over to that language arts curriculum which we all love so that's pretty much the differences between alpha phonics and 100 easy lessons and how we use them in our home school now which one is better so for us it's definitely going to be teaching your child how to read in 100 easy lessons because it has the pictures which helps to keep it engaging it has the this line which helps with reading and helps them know when to say the sound when they are reading so always find that to be really really good it also has the what the mom what mommy needs to say right there and so that also helps as well so it's the winner teach your child how to read in 100 easy lessons definitely hope that helps if you have any questions let me know in the comments and i'll see if how can help you if you want to flip through let me know in the comments and maybe can do one like on instagram or something like that and i'll talk to you next time bye my gosh you guys are so loud i'm sure they caught all of them
