hey everyone Rob the backyard Gardener here you know what was thinking felt like it was time to give an update on my Gayla apples wanted to show you something these are the apples I've started from seed put these in Ziploc bags with the paper towel method on January 1st so they sprouted think around January 9th and they've been in the two cup method for while and now these pots so technically these these are sewn if you will January 1st so they just hit 60 days old so they're doing really well and topped this this plant here about 3 days ago the reason why it was literally probably another 6 in taller so topped it and wanted to show you similar to Peppers when you top these guys they shoot Sprouts side shoots as well so I'm really happy that topping it worked may top this other guy over here you can see how tall he's getting May top him but wanted to have couple of different models so to speak an untopped one topped one I've got this runt down here mean he's doing good overall but you know he's just little smaller than the other ones anyway these are the Gayla apples these are the apples bought from the supermarket and I've tried several times to get apple seeds to sprout but you really they're kind of tricky you have to fool them into thinking that it's winter so put the apples in the fridge for several months then put them in the freezer for about 3 weeks then when cut them open noticed the seeds were just starting to sprout actually inside the Apple anyway wrapped in wet paper towel and they sprout it within like week so anyway here's the apple seeds and anyway beautiful looking specimens honestly I'm kind excited that I've been working on this project I'll keep everyone updated I'm hoping that they get big enough to put outside this year these pots should last them another several months maybe but come April May think I'd like to get them in either bigger pots such as these ones down here or may put them directly in the ground outside hope that they get strong enough to last throughout the next winter we'll figure it out anyway wanted to give you an update on my three apple trees that I've started from seed thanks for watching everyone
