How to Make a SIMPLE Lesson Plan Using the 5 Senses

hey guys wanted to hop on here real quick and share with you fun easy simple way that you can make lesson plan for your classroom so when you are looking for something simple this is going to be easy to throw together okay so couple years ago not couple years ago several years ago when was doing some of my teacher training you know those trainings that you have to do every year as teacher to get your training hours in and so was just sitting in this class and the instructor shared this simple lesson plan idea and loved it because it was so easy to pull together and it was new way to look at lesson planning that hadn't really thought of before and so wanted to share this with you just real quick and see kind of what you guys thoughts were on this as well so basically what you're going to do is you're going to take your five senses your sight hearing smell taste and touch and try to find an activity and art project or something that goes along with each of those categories that the kids would use those things to learn about whatever theme you are talking about all right so for example if my theme was the theme of bears okay would try and fill in each of those categories so I'm going to look at my cheat sheet here because went ahead and did this but my idea for site would be to look at some close-up pictures of bears and try and decide what bear they're looking at and so maybe you can have some full pictures of the maybe polar bear grizzly bear black bear and they're going to try and guess what Barrett is and then for hearing you're going to listen to How different Bears sound and see if they can distinguish difference between the sounds of each of the Bears all right and then for taste had couple ideas you could do something simple like gummy bears or if you wanted to pull in more of the academic learning of the Bears you could show them what bears eat and you could have some snacks that are similar to those things so for example if you're at home doing this you could have fish if you're at school you could do berries or nuts and of course be careful with allergies as you are thinking about bringing nuts into your classroom or really any food make sure you're careful with allergies but you could bring those different things that Bears might eat and you can use that for snack time for touch you could get go to fabric store and get different swatches of fur type fabric maybe in variety of colors and let them feel maybe what fur would be similar to on bear since we can't touch bear and so you're going to feel the fur that you get from the fabric store instead for your sense of touch and then lastly for sense of smell thought you could smell the things that bears eat so you could smell different fruits different nuts different maybe some honey fish if you wanted to and again if you're doing this in the classroom just check for allergies because there are some restrictions there but if you're at home doing this then you could really do whatever you wanted and then let's see this is great lesson plan to do if you need something kind of in pinch or if you're trying to plan maybe just even for one day you could easily pull together some quick activities and ideas just for the one day or you could use this kind of as basis and then add lot of things into it as well so you have your five senses as your basis and then you add other art and activity or skill activities that you want to add to your lesson plan as well and then of course this is great for at home as well if you're looking for things especially in the summer to do with your kiddos this is great way to just pick topic and learn about that each day if you want to add some academic learning into your summer as well all right so now this is going to be kind of short video but want to challenge you guys to pick theme and come up with an art and activity idea that you could do for the five senses and post it in the comments think it's fun to come up with or to see all the ideas that people come up with for this remember when we were sitting in the actual class she broke us up into different groups and we had different theme and we as group had to come up with lesson plan using the five senses and it was really fun to listen and hear all the different things that the other teachers came up with on their theme because there's so many things that we just would never even have thought of ourselves and so it's fun to hear from everybody else so challenge you to pick theme and post it in the comments something that you could do for each of the five senses and again if you want some more art and activity ideas don't forget to check out the other videos on the channel and subscribe to see other videos that come out in the future thanks for watching and I'll see you guys next time bye thank you
