hello everybody and welcome to Arabic with Amina in today's lesson we are going to be learning about the demonstrative pronouns demonstrative pronouns in Arabic are known as so what are demonstrative pronouns demonstrative pronouns are words used to point to specific things or people such as this that and those for example this book those are his pens that is my phone live here we're going to be learning how to say these pronouns in Arabic but before we become familiar with the demonstrative pronouns it's important to know that these words differ according to whether the word we are talking to or referring to is feminine word or masculine word and also according to the number of the word we're referring to are we referring to one thing two things which is dual in Arabic or three things which would be plural if you're not familiar with either dual plural or feminine or masculine words check out our videos on those topics first our first word is going to be this if the word we are referring to is feminine word we are going to say hadihi for example which means this is my school madrasati which is my school is feminine word in Arabic so we are going to be using the feminine form of the word this which is hadihi hadihi Metro City now if we are referring to masculine word we are going to be using the word Hada for example Hada kitabi this is my book book is masculine word in Arabic so we are going to be using the masculine form here which is next is the word these now we are first going to be talking about duals that means we are referring to number of two things if the word we are referring to is feminine these would be hatan or hatane hatan is used in the nominative case whereas hatane is used in the accusative and genitive case if you're not familiar with these cases just go with the first one hatan your grammar will be little off but people would understand you so our example here is these are two students means two female students hence why we are using the feminine form of these and why we are using the Dual form because we are referring to two if the word we are referring to is masculine we would use for the nominative case and hadeen for the genitive and accusative case again if you're not familiar just use the first form our example means two books and book which is kitab is masculine word in Arabic the next word is still these but now we are referring to plural which means the number of three or more now when we're saying these end in plural form it doesn't matter whether the word we are referring to is masculine or feminine because they are both the same word and it is foreign so an example using feminine word these are girls and if we were to say these are boys which is masculine word we'd say olad so in this case it doesn't really matter if the word is feminine or masculine next is the word that for feminine word that is tilka tilka for example yarati that is my car is feminine word so that's why we used tilka if referring to masculine word we would use valika for example valika Abi that is my father my father is masculine word so we are using the masculine form valika Abi next is the word those further with those there is no special form for dual and plural they are all the same so as long as we are referring to more than one thing or one person this is the word we are going to be using unlike the word these where we had word for the Dual form and we had word for the plural form and in this case it doesn't matter if the word is feminine or masculine they are both the same word which is for example Hind those students are from India if we were to refer to group of male students it'd still be the same word for example study with those students the lob is the masculine form of students which means we are referring to male students and in both cases those is the same word next are the words here and there we'll start off with the word here which is Huna for example live here and the word there would be hunak want to go there so those are demonstrative pronouns now we are going to be doing few exercises to help you retain the information you just learned our first exercise is this is book from my grandmother the word missing here is this want you to fill in the blank with that word these are the ways you can say this in Arabic if you'd like little hint the word book is kitab and it is masculine word so which form of this would we use take moment to think well since the word kitab is masculine we are going to be using the word Hada so the sentence would be moving on to our next exercise this sentence says these are beautiful flowers the word missing here is these here are your options for the word these according to whether the word is feminine or masculine and whether it is dual or plural little hint for you the word flowers which is Azhar is feminine word we are talking here about multiple flowers not just two so which word are we going to be using go ahead and take moment to think well since the word flowers is feminine word Azhar we are either going to be using these hatan or hate or we are going to be using this and it all depends on the number of flowers now remember told you we are talking about lot of flowers not just two so that means we are going to be using the word making the sentence and that brings us to the end of our video If you enjoyed this video please do subscribe like share and comment below what your thoughts are did you get the quiz right and make sure to share with your fellow Arabic learning buddies check out our other lessons if
