All right, everyone. We're going to learn about interrogative pronouns and interrogative adjectives in this lesson. But first of all, does anyone know what the word interrogative means? It means to ask question. It comes from the word to interrogate. So, if we're talking about interrogative pronouns and interrogative adjectives, it must mean that we're talking about pronouns and adjectives that ask questions, right? So, let's start off by looking at these two questions. Who ate the last cookie? and which cookie was best? Both sentences are asking question, but one has an interrogative pronoun while the other has an interrogative adjective. Can you tell me which is which? The first sentence has an interrogative pronoun who. Why is it pronoun? Well, it stands on its own and replaces the name of the person. While the second sentence has an interrogative adjective, which because which describes the noun cookie. See the difference? Adjectives describe nouns while pronouns replace nouns. It's pretty easy once you break down the parts. So interrogative pronouns include the words whom, whose, which, and what when they replace noun, as in whom did you invite to the party, whose is that? Which did you pick? What did you bring? Those are all interrogative pronouns. Now, let's add noun to each sentence and turn the interrogative pronouns into interrogative adjectives, and you'll see the difference between the two. Whose book is that? Which prize did you pick?
