good afternoon students how are you all doing today today's lesson in science is about how does the sun warm earth and the objective of our lesson is to observe how sunlight affects land and water on earth surface so let's get started with our lesson let's begin our lesson by discussing how the sun is source of light on earth let's take look at these two pictures in front of us the first picture shows daytime scene while the second picture shows nighttime scene now let me ask you question does the sun in the first picture make the sky look bright yes very good it does the sun gives off light which makes the sky look bright during the day the light that comes from the sun is what makes us see things what about the night time scene does the sky look dark in there yes it does now let me ask you another question does the sun make the sky look bright every day yes it does and does the sky get dark every day well done it does so is this pattern yes it is pattern as it happens over and over again let's proceed with our lesson to talk about how the sun gives off heat the sun warms land and water it gives off heat and this heat makes things warmer let's take the desert scene in front of us as an example to find out how the sun can warm things the first example shows us lizard warming itself under the sun the sun can also warm other things such as the oasis which is small area of water that can be found in the desert the sun also warms other things such as rocks and the sand let's begin solving the exercises in our science book and first we will start with page where we can see beach scene at sunset and the question is to circle the things the sun warms on earth so observe the picture of the beach scene and tell me what things are being warmed by the heat from the sun is it the sand the water or the pebbles excellent job let's circle the three pictures as the sun is the primary source of heat on earth and that's why it gives warmth to the sand water and pebbles let's move on to page 149 in our science book where we can see picture of some clouds stones and the sun so observe each one of these pictures because i'm going to ask you some questions about them so my first question is how are the clouds and stones alike very good they do not give off light and the next question is how are they different from the sun good job the sun gives off light so now we can answer our question which is to put an over the picture that shows what gives off light to help us see things so what do you think excellent job let's put an on the picture of the sun now for the next part of our question we have picture of flashlight and picture of sun and let me ask you another question how is the flashlight like the sun's light are they alike very good the sun and the flashlight both give off light so our question is to compare the flashlight to the sun and circle the one that gives off the most light so observe these two pictures and tell me which one of them gives off the most light great job let's circle the picture of the sun the sun gives off the most light and finally let's move on to page 150 in our science book where we are asked to circle the animal warming itself in the sun very good everybody we are going to circle the picture of the lizard so what is causing the lizard to feel warm what do you think great job it is the sun's heat the sun heats earth during the day and the lizard in the scene is warming itself in the sun have great day everybody and remember the sun is very important as it is the primary source of light and heat on earth however we should all be safe and follow the sun safety measures by wearing hats when we are under the sun wearing sunglasses to protect our eyes applying plenty of sunscreen to protect our skin and playing in the shade for even better protection from the sun bye bye
