Salams and welcome. Thank you for joining me in another episode of the Quran in English basics for beginners. A'uzubillahiminashaitanirrajim. Bismillahirahmanirahim. Those who brought forward the lie are body among yourselves. Now, this next few verses we know that with regard to great emphasis on this chapter as we saw in the introduction is the false slander against our mother the Ummul Mu'minin Hazrat Aisha Radiallahu Anha. And the believers also then advised what they should have done in the situation like that, right? So, those who brought forward the lie are body among yourselves. Think it not to be an evil to you. On the contrary, it is good for you. To every man among them will come the punishment of the sin that he earned. And to him who took on himself the lead among them will be penalty grievous. So, the fellow, the chief of the hypocrites, Abdullah ibn Ubayy, started the slander and then others then believed him or followed his way, right? And this is what the believers should do in situation like that. If you know that the woman is good person, the man is good person, and someone is accusing them of adultery, there's no evidence for it. Now, when you hear something like that, don't say, "Hey, that's hot gossip. Have you heard that?" Don't spread that. But, if you know that that person is good person, then we say, "Why did not the believers, men and women, when you heard of the affair, put the best construction on it in their own minds and say, 'This charge is an obvious lie.'" We also see it in modern times how innocent men are being accused of adultery, how innocent women are being accused of adultery. Sometimes you may just be co-worker at the office and you're just talking to someone and say, "Hey, you know what they're jollying? Yeah, something is going on." And then you look at one another and you raise your eyebrows. Say, "Yeah, look, there's something is going on." Why do you cause suspicions? Let's not do that, as- believe men, so. They say suspicion in men when they say "Vem je d'avoir ne." There's no cure for suspicion. But it is your duty as Muslim. The earlier verse said, "You must get the four witnesses." Did the four witnesses see them together in that bedroom? Did four independent honest witnesses see it? If not, if you see two people talking, it does not mean that they're jollying. So, let's not unnecessarily cast aspersions on people, especially if you know that that person is an honorable upright person. But if you know person is gigolo, then also it does not give you right. You keep your thoughts to yourself. And you stay away from that person then. You know, some people are gigolos. And some women are gigolos. don't know if you What is female name for gigolo? don't know. Right? What do they call it? Jezebel? So, some women are Jezebels, some men are gigolos. But if you know that some people are ND and they can get you involved in the trouble, they can easily get into bed, stay away from them. That's the only advice can give. Right? So, why did not the believers Now, now, the Muslims are being told, "When you heard the story about our mother Aisha radiya'Allahu anha, instead of listening to the hypocrite Abdullah ibn Ubayy, you, the people of Medina, you know one another. You know who is Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam. You know who is Aisha radiyallahu anha. These are the purest outstanding people. Now the rumor that you are getting it from, is it from good person or is it bad person? It's from the worst person in Medina. So that you must look at the source of the story. Who is the source? In this case, the source is Abdullah ibn Ubayy, hypocrite. So the believers should have said, "You know what? Who started the story? If it was an honorable person, an honest person who started the story, then you can say, "Okay, you know, there's something to this. Let's investigate it." But if you know that the person who is spreading this is hypocrite, he'll lie through his teeth, rubbish person, why did you even listen to that story? Yet the Muslims, some of them listened and they believed it and they themselves started putting oil on the fire. They started making the whole situation worse. And the advice is being given. If you know woman is outstanding, pure, and chaste, or if you know that the man is outstanding, pure, and chaste, and someone is making this type of slander, the yes, this is what you must do. Look at the last line. So let's read it again. Why did not believers, men and women, when you heard of the affair, put the best construction on it in their own minds and say, "This charge is an obvious lie." And immediately you cut the discussion. Immediately. You sometimes hear so much gossip even at weddings and so many other functions where people get tired of waiting. You know, sometimes they say the food will start and the function will start after Maghrib at 7:00. By half past 9:00 you're still waiting. So for 2 hours people now are fiddling their thumbs and they say, "Hey, you know what? You heard the latest gossip." And that's how problems start. So there's two lessons here. One, if you say the function is starting after Maghrib, let's be precise with time because as Muslims, please men we must be time-conscious. That's why we got the times for salah. We must be disciplined with time. We cannot start function at half past nine, start feeding the people when you're supposed to eat after Maghrib. There are people who got medical conditions, there are people who got diabetes, there's babies in the function, there's children in the function who cannot stay for hours and hours waiting until eating 10:00 at night. Right? So, that's another discussion altogether. Right? So, the lesson here is this charge is obviously lie. That is what the believers should have said. Why did they not bring four witnesses to prove it? When they have not brought the witnesses, such men in the sight of Allah stand forth themselves as liars. Because then you got the holier-than-thou attitude. Yeah, you see, you guys are jealous, no? You guys are doubters, no? Yeah, but me, I'm very pious. don't do things like that, you know? Me, I'm I'm very good person. But, you know, you guys, yeah, you're all jolling, yeah? Why do you say things like that? Why? Right? So, were it not for the grace and mercy of Allah on you in this world and the hereafter, grievous penalty would have seized you in that you rushed glibly into this affair. Look after yourself. Alhamdulillah rabbil alamin. May Allah protect us from holding our tongue. know sometimes it's difficult. Sometimes, inevitably, at function, we are all tired, we've got headaches, we're exhausted, we may say things that we do not mean to say, and we may listen to things we may not have meant to say, but if you know that person is honorable and outstanding, then just say, "You know what? Nothing has been confirmed. Let us not talk about it." Just say politely, and just cut the talk about something else. Talk about politics, talk about world affairs, talk about astronomy, talk about the atom, talk about molecules, talk about nature, about wildlife. There's so many There's millions of topics to talk about. All right? So, let's not talk about things where there's no certainty on the matter. So, you get when you when you're at the wedding or function, whatever it is, and someone starts discussion which you feel uncomfortable with, then put an end to it. And if you can't do that, cuz sometimes there's lot of big shots at function and you feel like the odd one out, then you'd rather stand up, excuse yourself, go look for another table to sit at.
