hello readers and thank you for joining me for another spelling lesson this one this week is again another unofficial spelling list know I've made few changes the past couple of weeks so I'll get back to normal again next week but we wanted to make some changes based on what we know about the science of reading and we want to make sure that we're learning things in proper order and in proper way so this is The Unofficial spelling list for Savas might be literacy unit 4 lesson 2 vcv multi-syllabic closed and open syllable words we are going to have routine if you've been around for while you know the routine we say the word we spell the word and the way we spell it is we smash it so we'll take the word and you see the word bacon up there b-a-c-o-n let me say that word after we do that then we write it after we write it we're going to divide it these are multi-syllabic words so we're going to label the vowels the consonants build our bridge and draw our line in the proper place we're going to map The Sounds I'm going to say the word One More Time bacon you ready to get started get your paper and pencil ready I'd like for you to write it down because when you write it it helps it go here and when it's here when you see it you know how to read it and when you need to write it you know how to spell it because you've learned how to properly break the words up all right our first word is comment say comment spell it comet write it and I'll tell you how to spell it that way you don't have to look at the screen him he next now that you've written it we're going to label the vowels what are the vowels in this word the and the that's correct what do we do after we label the vowels you build bridge and the bridge goes from vowel to vowel so it goes from the to the what do put on the bridge any consonants that are above the bridge now know there's consonant here and consonant here but the only one above the bridge is the so we're going to label that one next we're going to break put our break on there now the reason I'm not having this decide is we've already said the word Comet and if we were to do those syllables and you remember how to clap syllables come it I've already told you where it breaks so we're just going to draw that line here and when do those it also tells us what kind of vowel sound that's going to be this is closed syllable so that says and that's closed syllable so that says so we know that we do the Sounds here we know what kind of sound to make at com at comet our next word is lazy say lazy spell it lazy we've already said it now we're going to write it again I'll tell you what to write so you don't have to look at the screen we're going to label those vowels again now know on this one we labeled the you know how you've always said the vowels are and sometimes this is one of those sometimes it is one because every syllable has to have vowel so when you break up the word lay into syllables the second syllable has to have have vowel and this one is going to be again we're going to build our Bridge we're going to connect it from the to the and then we're going to label the consonants and in this one we have we're going to draw our line between that we've already said it's lay and by saying that we know it's lay and that's an open syllable because the break is before the consonant there's no consonant behind it and that's long syllable as well so we're gonna map The Sounds pull lazy our next word is driven say driven spell it given next want you to write it I'll tell you how to spell it label the vowels we have an and an that's the only vowels here once we've labeled the vowels what do we do we build bridge and again there's only one consonant above the bridge and that's the so we're going to label that next we're going to split it where do we split it this time think about the word deriv in so we know we're going to put it there behind the because that's short vowel sound Drive in makes both those closed hope you map those sounds with me our next word is human say human first we're going to lay the vowels what are the vowels in this one we gotta spell it got ahead of myself human next we're gonna write it go ahead and write it in now that you've written it label the vowels the vowels again are what and what do do after label the vowels built bridge what do put on the bridge again only the consonants above the bridge and that's the on this one and where do draw my line think about the word we've already said it human after that makes that an open syllable says its name so when sum it out know I'm going to say you human human our next word is proper say proper spell the word proper write it label the vowels again now this one's little bit different we're going to label that but we're going to make that little bit bigger and it's going to go under the and the because that is an controlled vowel e-r-i-r-o-r-e-r -u-r all controlled vowels and if you ever see those in word we want to put that below both because those go together that's going to mean that's going to be an controlled syllable as well next we're going to build our Bridge what do put on the bridge just the one consonant again where am going to draw the line is it proper or proper proper so it's going to be after that which again makes this short vowel and this still are controlled let's map The Sounds who is with me up prop then says prop proper our next word is Tropic say tropic next we're going to spell it tropic now want you to write it now that you've written it want you to label the vowels what are the vowels in this word the and the that is correct what do do after label the vowels build bridge what do put on my bridge consonant what is the common go below what letter that's right and again where does my line split go we think about it is it going to be Tropic or tropic it's going to be after the that's right Tropic and that refers to Island type areas beachy type areas the tropics usually warmer in those areas now we can sound it out up Trump ick tropic our next word is meter say meter next we're going to spell it meter now want you to write it label the vowels again you're right another are controlled hope you label that correctly remember the next step draw bridge what do put on the bridge consonants where do split this is it meter or meter it's meter that's right so that makes that long vowel which means I'm going to put that there eater hope you did those sounds again meter Peter our next word is River say River spell it River write it are again hope you caught that controlled vowel again and label that correctly if not fix it what do we do after we label the vowels we draw line what do do after draw the line I'll label the consonant now again where do I'm going to put where am gonna put my break is it river or is it river it's river you're right so it's going to go after the which means that's closed syllable it makes short vowel and of course we have our control there we can easily sum it out now if River silent say silent spell it silent write it next want you to label the vowels what are the vowels the and the what do do after label the vowels build bridge what do do after build bridge put the consonant just one consonant between the vowels still now again where do put the line is it silent or silent it's silent that's right that's an open syllable then of course silent map the sounds with me silent our next word is robot and we're getting close to being done guys know this long spell the word robot next let's write it next label your vowels there's two o's that's correct what do do build bridge after this label those consonants and again where do draw my line is it row bot or robot it's row bot that's correct so it's going to go after that making an open syllable here and closed syllable here can do my sound sound it with me art robot all right restore our two high frequency words and then we will be done we will not be breaking these up into syllables we're just going to go straight through them say the word talk talk sound it out Talk and of course Al says all of that it's one sound next spell it talk next want you to write it tea and our last word is being say being map the sounds and this word NG says Bean spell it being and last let's write it guys you did fantastic thanks for sticking with me the whole video it was long one with these multi-syllabic words but you're doing fantastic guys until next time happy reading
