hello and welcome back to another video so today thought I'd just quickly show you how we can use our calculators to convert numbers into the appropriate number of significant figures and enter scientific notation okay so the first thing we'll do is just quickly input whatever our number is so let's say we've got 12.255 whatever doesn't really matter so what can do is now press equals and now I'm going to go ahead and press shift mode for that setup option now at number seven scientific notation so we'll go ahead and press that and now it gives us this option here from zero to nine that's just asking us how many significant figures would we like so let's go ahead and press three for three significant figures and now you can see written to three sig figs we have 1.23 times 10 to the one and that's equal to 12.25555 as required and there we are so that's how you can convert numbers into scientific notation and significant to the appropriate significant figures on your calculator and if you do want to type in any number like that right now it'll continue to do so until you convert it back into your normal mode as such and there we go hope you found the video useful please leave like subscribe comment if you'd like to Cheers
