The Syrian Civil War in 3 Minutes

after suffering Decades of harsh and oppressive governments the people of several Middle Eastern countries raised their voices in protest and remove their leaders in what has been called the Arab Spring in Egypt and Tunisia the uprisings were quick and successful in Libya the protest led to short Civil War that ended with the death of mumar Gaddafi Syria is another story this is Bashar al-assad president president of Syria his father Haz ruled for 30 years during which he improved the country but at the cost of regular violence to his people Asar came into Power after his father's death in 2000 and at first he signaled he would be different kind of leader but this peaceful time with his people didn't last at the first sign of disagreement Assad limited Free Speech made trade more difficult for syrians and made it very clear that Democratic rule was not in his plans after 12 years many syrians had had enough thousands of people followed the examples of the Egyptians and tunisians and took to the streets to demand change the Army answered by opening fire on Syrian protesters hundreds died and thousands more were arrested any chance of peaceful solution died with the protesters small groups of armed Rebels started to appear almost immediately since then the government and Rebels have been fighting war that claimed 230,000 lives by early 2024 so what's going to happen next Assad's government collapsed in December 2024 but he evaded capture by rebels when he left the country he will likely remain in Moscow Russia and never return to Syria as for Syria's many Rebel groups it is unknown whether they will continue to work together or start new civil war against each other an unstable government in an already War torn Middle East could lead to more nearby countries getting involved one thing is for certain if the fighting continues much longer the whole country could even break up making peace that much more unlikely no matter who takes over Syria has been greatly injured by its past 13 years of war and it will have to unite its people again before it can begin to fulfill the promises of the Arab Spring which seems so long ago
