The ت vs the ط in ARABIC

repeat after me repeat after me tap ta okay okay this one no no no no no okay okay got it roll that door roll it okay forget the road what am saying wrong in this video we're going to be taking look at the difference between the TA and the thought sounds okay lot of students have issues with this beginner students intermediate students or even more than students have trouble with the more heavy sounds or heavier letters so as you may or may have not known in Arabic we have heavy or heavier sounding sounds or letters okay we have normal sounding letters like the which is like the half of scene like the sound or the letter which is these we have them they're separate letters that sound exactly like the English pronunciation or the English sound of that letter now we also have heavier versions of each of those letters for example letter we have heavy version of that and it's not really version it's just different letter but to make it easy and to help you guys we're calling it different version but it's it's an independent letter but it just sounds like heavier for example you have regular heavy tea which is regular then we have hard for sword think of it like heavy as it's an independent letter and then we have for example and then heavy sound of that but it's letter okay in this video we're going to be focusing on the TA and the thought differences between these know this may be annoying for some of you because lot of people struggle with this but hopefully by the end of this video you know you have few tools to help you identify the differences between the TA and the tar Focus will be the TA and in this video okay let's start with simple example with letter that starts with the equivalent of the in English so and the in Arabic that's the word teen which is fig okay teen easy to pronounce just like the abbreviation of teenager so teen now if were to mispronounce that add heavy sounding it's going to change the meaning completely so if change teen to teen this is different try to listen to the the difference teen means now obviously very completely different things so but you can see how you know one simple pronunciation error can change the meaning of word now obviously you'll be able to tell by context if someone mispronounces in most instances and this isn't to say that anytime you mispronounce it's going to be completely different word sometimes if you mispronounce the thing might not necessarily have meaning you know what mean but in this case if you if you pronounce the with the heavy thought it's totally different work went from thick to Mud to Mom so what we're going to do as way to help you guys identify the difference we're going to use technique that just kind of started using with some students and that's the exaggeration technique so want you to when you have word want you to exaggerate the the sound of it for one and then two to mat to replace that letter with the heavier letter and vice versa and see how it sounds okay for example we're going to start with words that have that start with the letter which means the letter so let's take look at very calm word Tema good someone asks you Keith Harlock Keith Harlock good or all good is all good good fine simple response so kamam is is sound it's not heavy tea now want you to replace first of all switch the tea with the heavy tea and say pamam the mom now that's not the word if you replace the tea with heavy tea you're gonna be like no that doesn't sound quite like Taman tamam soft regular tea it's like what is what the hell is that doesn't necessarily does doesn't have meaning it's not like our teen and teen example that's just like why are you pronouncing it with thought it's okay and this just you with time you're gonna start knowing okay how this word is pronounced with it's word it's pronounced in this case you know if if you replace it with the thought it doesn't make any sense so this is one way to kind of start identifying so replace you're gonna be like what is this okay in other words means Crown simple word now if replace the with the page sounds different now at the beginning you might if you're just comparing 10 top alone without examples you might find that challenging like hey can't really hear it can't really hear the difference and this is very common for beginner students but once you put it in word and put it kind of apply it so you have Taj and then say Taj versus Taj Taj notice even how the shape of my when I'm pronouncing it the shape of my mouth is is changing so Taj there's no Taj okay so that's one thing now let's switch over to words that start with the so we have the word for plane which is and again if you're new to Arabic make sure to check out the free mini course in the description to understand the difference between dialect Arabic and MSA Modern Standard Arabic and more things and learn how to introduce yourself and few other things pre-mini course in the description check it out so we have the word era now want you to exaggerate and say with with as heavy thought as you canceled I'm not saying so that's with the tea this is exaggerate as much as you can even if it if it sounds little like like too tough or rough like like you're really angry but as long as it gets you to notice the sound okay and if the exaggeration is helping try switching try using the incorrect letter the TA in this case and say I'm gonna be like no that sounds too soft it's not it similarly the word for student I'm not saying Talib polyp exaggerated okay so those are your quick examples remember try to exaggerate and replace the sound so you can kind of start noticing different places just for experimental purposes let me know if that video helped let me know if you also have other techniques that you have been using and if you've been struggling let me know in the comments our kid is if there are any suggestions for future videos let me know see you in the next video foreign
