what's up guys thanks for stopping by today we're going to talk about what area is so when your teacher says find the area of circle or triangle or parallelogram or whatever what does that mean area just equals the two-dimensional space inside of some shape so if we have this Square dang it if we have this square if each one of these little squares here is centimeter on each side this larger Square would have one two three four five six seven eight nine square centimeters so this would equal nine let me write it like this centimeters squared okay for triangles it's not so easy on graph paper but you can see if we finish this triangle like this and made it rectangle you'd have one two three four five six and since this triangle is half of the rectangle it would equal three centimeters squared right it doesn't matter what the shape is it doesn't have to be normal shape it can still count the squares in here one two three four five six seven eight nine so this one has nine centimeters squared these two have the same area but they're not the same shape they just have the same amount of space within all their sides thanks for watching hopefully that helped check out these videos for more detailed explanation of how to find the area of specific shape if you have any questions throw them in the comments be sure to subscribe thanks
