Have you ever made hot chocolate, stirred sugar into tea, or helped someone mix pancake batter? If you have, then you've already made mixture. Today, we're learning how solids and liquids can be mixed together and what happens when they do. mixture is when we put two or more things together to make something new. Sometimes solids and liquids can mix really well. Other times, they don't mix at all. Let's start with something yummy, like making chocolate milk. You take solid chocolate powder and mix it into liquid milk. You stir it up and the powder disappears into the milk. That's mixture. Now the milk tastes chocolatey and you can drink it. What about when you make pancake batter? You add flour, which is solid, then pour in milk and maybe an egg. When you mix them all together, they turn into thick smooth batter. That's another mixture. The solids and liquids work together to make something new. Some mixtures stay together really well. Others don't. Have you ever tried mixing sand and water? At first, it might look like they're blending, but the sand sinks to the bottom. That's mixture, too, but it doesn't stay mixed. Mixing is something we use every day. Cooks mix ingredients. Painters mix paint. Builders even mix things like cement using solids and liquids. Some mixtures are made to drink, like juice with sugar. Some are made to build, like mixing water with cement powder. And some are just for fun, like mixing soap and water to make bubbles. So remember, mixture is when you put things together, and solids and liquids can make all kinds of useful things when we mix them the right way.
