So the the the human sheline are the worst ones. They're the they're the worst. Like mean now the marada are locked up, but the human are in you know they're they're in full force always. Maha is is really interesting word because it's one of these it's it's port mento word that comes from maha and the the the the medieval scholastics clearly got this word from us because they talk about the quiddity which is quiddest which exact same thing mahia. So that was their translation from the Arabic text when they talked about the maha. So the mahya is what gives you the essence of something. It tells you what it is because you you you perceive you abstract the the form. So so in in the causes you see the formal cause of the thing and and seeing the formal cause right is what what enables you to penetrate the mahi like you say what is it like what is this? What's its mahi? this is book and then you can define the book of of of what it is. So So now he's going to get into what is human being. What's the what is it human being? So the the essence of of the quiddity of everything is acquired through its form that distinguishes it from all other things like the form of knife or sword or minel. So, so, so these those three things are are can be used all of them can be used mean for different things but generally they're they're they're weapons really right they're blades of some sort so the minal you use it to harvest wheat or harvest corn the scythe think it's Sith or scythe anybody scythe yeah So, so, so the the mining is is that that that's what you use to harvest. The sword you use to, you know, fight usually and then the sikin can be used for fighting or for many many it's one of the most beneficial tools that humans have. There's tools that the Arabs call the theat are the tools that if you have them, you don't need anybody. That's that's what the Arabs say. You can go wherever you want. If you have the like and it said that the Adam came down with the anvil and the hammer when he came to the earth that that that was that was the thing he needed to because we're tool makers. This is we're unique. There are many many creatures build houses but no creatures use tools, right? Not not like humans. We make tools. So these are the so so so you know the diff you can tell the difference between sword and and and knife by its form. mean obviously you get to point where it gets fuzzy. So is it hill or is it mountain? mean these are this is where fuzzy logic comes in. But but generally you know you know generally you can see something clearly for what it is and that's the form of thing. So the human being is is is is is is both sensient being but also an immaterial being. So we have we're sensient and immaterial at the same time. We're both spiritual and material. And he said this is what Allah meant when he said I'm creating human being from clay. So there's our materiality. there's our spirituality. So when we fashioned the clay and then breathed into it the the soul from the of Allah. So that's that's what makes us worthy of the the the the honor that the angels were commanded to show us is that we're we're we're unique. We made the human being different creation. We're completely unique creation. Allah has made us completely unique. And this is where modern people, they have spiritual dementia because they've forgotten who they are. And this is one of the great tragedies of modern people. We we have forgotten that we are that we were created in the best of statures. The human being was created in the best of statures. And so that's what he's saying here is that we're both we have both. So for this reason he has from both perspectives form. So the the the the the palpable form, the sensient form of the that we we can see through the sensor of the body is that we're upright in stature, that we have these broad fingernails, that we have denuted skin. So we have we have you know the skin is without fur, right? There's no like other animals. And then visibility, right? That's the you guys studied logic. So the the is is but then you have right the description. So the description is insan we're risible creatures. So those are all from the sensients of the human being. Those are in our the intelligible immaterial spiritual form is in in is in the intellect is in the understanding is in the deliberation is in the speech those are what make the human being spiritual being and that's why speaking this is the truth how just like you're speaking Because speech is it has the materiality of sound waves and and vocables and and al but the meanings that are carried in it are immaterial. Those can only be understood by the intellect. So you can hear if you hear you know crow ca you don't know what the crow's saying right you can hear that but you it's not intelligible to you other than that you can perceive that's crow or the owl who who you don't what's it saying but when we speak and one of the things that that Wolf Gang Smith said which found fascinating. He said if you really deliberate on speech you will understand that that as speech is coming because where it where it's coming from we don't know we this flow that comes out of human beings as we speak this intelligible flow and then it comes to you and then you have to decode it just to understand what I'm saying just these sentences the sophistication of human syntax acts of sentences of all the meanings that are embedded in these words of all the possibilities of the fact that your mind can hear these things and put them all together. Th this is complete miracle and it's immaterial. It's immaterial and and people we're doing it every day and it's amazing. It's just it's so stunning and so powerful. So that's what he's saying like this is our form that that proves that we are an immaterial being. So he's saying, you know, the logician said the human being is rational animal. They didn't mean this vocable that we're articulating. No, they meant the meanings that are being expressed, right? That's what they meant by it. We can we can summarize something by just saying something very particular about it. We can we we can we have muttonomy. We can we can say the white house announced today. mean, whoa. Like, have you thought about that? Like, how we use these these these metaphors, you know, the pen is mightier than the sword. mean, how did you how did you understand that? Think about that. Really, how did you understand that? How do you understand what the symbol of pen means in relation to the symbol of sword? Because that's not literal. That's just saying that intelligence is mightier in reality than force. Right? But how did we get how how are we able to derive these meanings from these things? It's this is the secret of the human being. So can say and look what that means to you. mean this this is amazing that human because then you can think you can think all these things that are that that that evoke by simply saying oruran the bride of the Quran all these things that come from that orah the 12th chapter right the chapter that was revealed that tells the story the only chapter in the Quran that is contained story there are many things just from Surah Ysef saying that it evokes all of these meanings. Surah, right? The Quresh are named after the shark. You know that they have San Jose sharks because they use teams like sharks is name because they're fearsome. So the Arabs called the theoresh they named the mean it was one man was named but the tribe became benuesh right because the shark is the most awesome beast in the ocean more more the great white shark is that's it know and he knows it too he knows it like these you know you see these falcons around here if you've seen some of the redtailed hawks mean I've seen them perched up on these trees and They know they're at the top of the food chain. mean, you could just see it in them. Whereas the poor little squirrel is like petrified, terrified that hawk's gonna get him, right? But that hawk is just up there. He's not afraid of anybody. He's just looking around. mean, they they they they go think it's like they're well over 100 miles per hour. They're going like 200 miles per hour when they dive on their prey, you know? And they're, you know, the how that nose that beak is like that. because so the air doesn't go in because it would blow out their lungs. So so the beak is designed so they can dive like that. So so you know so that's from all those meanings that came out of just thinking about and animals and the human being can be looked at from two perspectives general and specific. So you can look at it like he's upright, he has the ability, the potentiality for thought, he benefits from knowledge. And then those who actually know the truth. So the the general humanity has potentialities. They have the form of the humanity. They have the potential. But then you have those those special people, the elite who actually know the truth and believe the truth and they do virtuous actions. They know good and they act accordingly based on his ability and his capabilities. This is meaning that people are they're they they vary in this. So so some are better than others and they they distinguish themselves with with with great great distances from each other in these things. In achieving this, the human being warrants humanity. They they they they deserve to be called human being. It's those that engage in those actions that are peculiar to the human being. And this is why we say he's more human than he is. He has more humanity than he does. And and just as the human being can be looked at from these two perspectives in when we say that the human being is rational animal, we can look at that from two perspectives. We can look at it from general perspective. And that is in terms of the potentialities that are distinct like benefiting from the truth and goodness. For instance, we say the human being is writer unlike the horse or the donkey. In other words, he has the potentiality to be writer whether he writes or not. and then you have the the the specific of it. So when we say that he has actually achieved the truth and believed it or he has achieved virtue and acted accordingly or we say Zade is is writer whereas Amar is not. In other words, he has he he is he has the knowledge of writing. And like that we say the servant of God from two. The first one. In the first one we mean the animal that is exposed to the obligations or the decrees of the commands of God. Whether they obeyed the dictates or not. Everything in the heavens and the earth will come to the merciful as slave, servant. So that's what he's saying. Everybody whether they like it or not, they're Abdullah. But then there's the this is the one who adheres to the commandments of Allah in in actuality. Allah says toan, "You have no authority over my servants." And like that we say he's living, he's hearing, he's seeing, he's speaking, he's intelligent. We say that in two different ways. The first one in general way and that means that he has animal life. So he's sensient. He can imagine. He's got perception. Inclinations. appetites. He can hear things. He can see things. See, he can perceive colors. He can hear sounds. He can speak and and say to you know help others to understand what he wants. So he has all of the these potentialities that the the obligation hinges upon. But the second is what is said for the the elect. You know, these are not the general population, but these are the people that Allah has chosen. They're they're they're alive. This is to warn the one who is alive. So, it's talking about the the mman whose heart is alive. The one who is dead and we brought him to life. In other words, he was dead to spirituality and then he was brought to life by faith. He can hear the the realities of the intelligible. So he can contemplate the afterlife infinity. He can contemplate the divine attributes and he has inner sigh. I'm calling to Allah with this inner sight with which is also these proofs so he can understand the the the the theat right. So these are the the the things that can be understood through through intelligence. They have the existence in the in the in the intelligible realm. and the tongue that can can can articulate the realized realities. These are the things that Allah has negated for disbeliever ignoramises, disbelieving ignoramises. They are blind. They're deaf, dumb, and blind. And they do not they do not perceive. They they have no they don't per perceive. They they they don't realize they don't have they're not using their intellects.
