hello good afternoon year two maybe good morning maybe good evening depending on when you're watching this what pleasure to see you I'm mr. Smith and I'm gonna be taking you for re for the next couple of weeks and we're going to be looking at this question what happens inside mosque so before we go any further wonder if anyone at home knows already what mosque is right so mosque is place of worship for Muslims and Muslims are people who follow religion called Islam so we are going to be asking what happens inside that place of worship let's have look so here's another answer to our question what is mosque mosque is building where Muslims go to worship pray and to meet each other you might have been inside mosque you might have walked past mosque you might have never seen mosque before in your life so we're gonna start from the point of looking at some mosques in our local area we're going to look at some mosques in London and I'm asking Cambridge as well so let's take look right this is probably the most famous and one of the biggest mosques in London it's called lund London central mosque and it's right on the edge of Regents Park like you take look at the pitches on the screen and just think about some words that you would use to describe this right so golden tall big impressive what else it's quite square at the bottom there isn't it but it's got this huge golden dome and that's quite common feature of mosques it's also got this really tall tower and that tall tower has special name that will come to you later that's called minaret and what happens is someone stands up here at the top of the minaret and they could sing out what's called call to prayer but we will look at that in more detail this is big impressive mosque so it shows us that Islam in London is quite an important religion that there probably are quite lot of Muslims living in London that want to go and worship somewhere this let's take look at an al mosque okay this is called the Beitel Aziz mosque in Newington and Newington is just down the road from Charles Dickens it's sort of between Charles Dickens and Elephant and Castle and this mosque is well is it bigger or is it smaller than the other mosque yeah it's smaller isn't it it's much smaller have you noticed though it's got some similarities firstly it's got this dome here at the top just like the other mosque that we saw it's got these patterns on the side and the same kind of shape to the windows so we know we can tell usually by looking at building that building is mosque because it has these certain features usually it has minaret the tower and it has the dome at the top here and this is in our local area and it's one of many many many mosques in this area of London it is quite common sight now to see buildings that have even been built as mosques or converted let's take look at one more this is Cambridge central mosque now is this modern building or is this an old building take look and see what you think now know that this is modern building know it was built in 2018 but you can tell that because look at all this beautiful lovely glass they've got included there it's very light it's very Airy it's quite tall and big it's very different from some of the much older mosques that we're going to look at that you might find in other countries it is something that what you're gonna look at bit further down the school maybe up in year 4 because it's built to be eco-friendly it's built to be good for the environment so it's not really interesting to look at these different types of mosques before we look at what happens inside mosque right here is map then so let's put those on the map and you should have home you should have your re booklet for this half-turn what happens inside mosque and you're going to need to open it up to the first lesson and you can see and you've got copy of this map as well and you just need to copy the labels you can't see that very clearly okay you need to copy the labels onto your map so the first label it's outside of London so it goes at the top here this is Cambridge Central Mosque in big city called Cambridge which is in the East of England so you know we did in geography north east south and west it's in the East of England the next mosque is here that's the London Central Mosque that's just north of the centre of London and that's by Regions Park and then here the Beitel aziz moss that's the one nearest to Charles Dickens and that's just south of Charles Dickens where it is so next lesson we're actually going to look at what most mosques have in common so we're going to look at the different parts of mosque and what each of those parts is for and I'm really looking forward to doing that with you hope you have wonderful rest of your day will see you later and enjoy the sunshine it's sunny there as it is here bye guys
