There was king who was just. He was known for being just. He was loving and he was known for being loving. And he ruled over his kingdom, but one day his daughter broke rule that had severe punishment where she would have had to have been whipped to the point of like severe agony. And so the king was like, "Well, if forgive my daughter, I'll be known as loving, but then known as not just. And People will call my my character into question. Right. And if her pass because she's my daughter. Exactly. But if if let her receive the judgment, then they'll say I'm unloving because don't care for my daughter. I'm like not good father. And so the king had the judgment be carried out. And as she is laying there about to receive her punishment with whip and get whipped on the back, the king takes off his shirt. He says, "Stop." And he lays over her and receives her punishment. And so think that that is one of the best illustrations where the king displayed his love for his daughter by taking her punishment, but also his justice in still carrying out the judgment, but he received it in himself. Right. Yeah, that's probably the best way I've heard it broken down. Jesus had to die in our place. He's our substitutionary atonement. So he atoned for our sins, all our wrongdoing, everything that offends God, Jesus paid for that. He atoned for it. Paid for it in full on the cross in our place. He substituted us for him on the cross. It should have been me on the cross. Should have been you. Should have been all of us. But Jesus chose to die in our place. And because he's God in the flesh, he's able to not just redeem one person, but redeem all of creation. So if that makes if that makes sense. the fall for us. Like he's not just an animal, he's not just human, but he's God crucified. And because he's God, he was resurrected from the grave. sin has no power over God. Mhm. would just kind of break it down like this is God had dilemma. He created us in his image and he created us to be just like him and to bring fruit to the world and Adam and Eve fell and sin entered the world and the devil had his his playground and now God has problem. It's like he has to be just. Right. He's just to be holy. It's like he can't be in the presence of sin. Exactly. Right. It's like It's like you could he could have just let it slide, but that would mean you could make the case that would make That would make him not just. That would make him just. He would be hypocrite. He's got massive problem. If he says that sin is is serious issue that has consequences and then he allows and then people go ahead and do it and then he's like, well, I'll just let it slide with no consequences. He'd basically be hypocrite. Yeah. But he's so loving that he took our consequences on himself. So it's like one of those really cool things he had he it's not that he in our mind it's like he had to die, but it's like, no, he chose to. Mhm. yeah. So those nails that kept him on the cross. It was his love for us. He chose to stay there. He definitely did. He had the power to get down, but he didn't. So Yeah. Yeah. think if there's some new believers or maybe just people who just looking at Christianity, don't think they it would at least in my life didn't understand it at first and it was kind of confusing was well, if Jesus took the punishment then like how did the the God that you say created the universe and all this take the punishment? So, could you explain the Like is Jesus God? with the trinity and You want me to explain the trinity? All right, so you ever heard you ever eaten Neapolitan ice cream? No. I'm just kidding. I'm just kidding. Any Okay, so so this is for the record bro, You're about to hear at least five heresies. Yeah. Compare God to ice cream. Yeah, no. Yeah, if you could explain the Trinity for us, that would Neapolitan ice cream is the closest that I've ever heard, but it's obviously fall short cuz it's ice cream. You know what I'm saying? What's Neapolitan ice cream? Neapolitan ice cream is vanilla, strawberry, and chocolate ice cream. So, God is of one essence. So, he's God the Father, God the Son, God the Spirit. Neapolitan ice cream is of one essence. It's ice cream, right? If you remove strawberry ice cream from Neapolitan ice cream, it's no longer Neapolitan ice cream. If you remove the Holy Spirit from the Trinity, it's no longer the Trinity. It's no longer God. You know what you understand what I'm saying? Yeah, see. Yeah, so it's so it's the Strawberry ice cream isn't chocolate ice cream. Right. Spirit isn't Jesus. Vanilla ice cream isn't chocolate ice cream. God the Father's not Jesus. So, and they're they're co-equal. They're equally distributed in the Neapolitan ice cream 10. And if they're not, then it's not Neapolitan ice He's making this work. He's trying to make it work here. Right. So, so basically what you're saying is the the the partialism heresy. That God's 30% of each. Right. So, that's where it That's where it falls apart. All right, there's heresy number one. That's where the illustration falls apart. But, yeah, all jokes aside, how do know that Jesus is God in the flesh? Well, no. We We believe What is Trinity? Cuz you hear like, "Well, thought thought Jesus thought Jesus was God the Father." but what about What about the Father or or they it's hard to kind of understand. Yeah, one Think about it like it's really hard for people to understand this, but think about humanity, us. Like, we have physical body. There's spiritual component to us, for sure. You'd be dumb to deny it. And then we have soul. And that's different from our spirit. The spirit is what connects us to God. And prior to having our faith in Jesus, that part of us is dead. And so, when we put our faith in Christ, the spirit of God comes alive in us, connects us to God the Father, and our soul is what really is like who we are, our uniqueness, my thought, my will, my emotions. But also have physical body. So I'm in and of myself, I'm I'm like three part being. And so God God is of one substance. He's God. I'm human. I'm of one substance. I'm human. So God is of one substance, and he reveals himself in three persons, the Holy Spirit, God the Holy Spirit, God the Son, and God the Father. They are one but distinct, which gets kind of squirrely because that doesn't make sense to us. Do you understand what I'm saying? Because we're humans. Because we're humans. We're finite. to wrap our minds around it. Around the infinite. Right. It's so hard to understand. Yeah, cuz people always say, "Well, you're saying that 1 + 1 + 1 = 1." And And the way would respond to those people is like if you're going to reduce God to mathematical equation, better one would be infinity plus infinity plus infinity equals infinity. Right. Exactly. Exactly. trying to you're trying to We We can't wrap our heads around it because we're not I'm good.
