two sets of dinosaur fossils from the Jurassic period have been discovered in Southwest China's unan Province they are believed to date back more than 180 million years ago one set has been identified as that of Lu fungusaur Magnus by The Institute of vertebrate paleontology and paleoanthropology the fossil is 5.3 long with multiple vertebra and complete hind legs the dinosaur is believed to have been 9 long in total the fossil we've retrieved is about 70% complete it was buried in Straton that dates back to the early Jurassic period it is very rare to find such well-preserved dinosaur fossils from that period although some parts of the dinosaur are missing the fossil we found will still Aid in research concerning geography and dinosaur evolution as well as the climate and environment at that time another fossil that of Lu fungusaur was found about 500 away from the site of the first discovery the fossils were discovered in Yan's luang County last month by road maintenance workers we found some fossil pieces during our road maintenance work we've changed the course of the road to protect the site
