hello everybody and welcome to Arabic with Amina today's lesson is going to be about plural words in Arabic in English we already know what plurals are if it's one thing it's singular and if it's more than one it's plural in Arabic it's little bit different in Arabic we do have singular where it is one thing called Munford and then there is plural just like English but it's little bit different first of all plural and Arabic is Jammer but plural in Arabic refers to number of three or more unlike English where two can be plural if it's two it's called another thing it's called dual or muthena in today's video we're going to be focusing on plurals if you'd like to know more about duels please check out our other video concerning that matter first of all it's important to know is the word you're talking about masculine or feminine if you don't know what I'm talking about please check out the masculine and feminine words video first now on to the plurals in Arabic there are three patterns of plurals the first is which is sound masculine plurals as implied from the name this applies to words that are masculine the second type is which is sound feminine plurals again this applies to feminine words and then there's third pattern called the gem artaxier or broken plurals this pattern of plurals doesn't really follow any rules and so it is called broken or sometimes called irregular first off we're going to be starting by talking about the gemarmo and Nath Salim or they sound feminine plurals as mentioned this applies to feminine words German one Asylum is quite straightforward we have world which we're going to apply to our words so first we're going to be talking about nouns and this noun is feminine and our rule is that we will add to the end of the word alif TA or at and that makes our Renown plural quite simple and quite straightforward so this is our rule for Gemma and the surname we're going to start now with few examples start with the word muslima muslima refers to female Muslim and now we are going to apply the role of adding lifta to the end so we will make the word muslimat muslimat please notice that the Tama Buddha of the word is augmented and instead is only elifta added so this last letter right here is removed let's try that with another word Lima which is female teacher again adding our alifta to the end and more alimat teachers female teachers last example La Ripa player at the alephta laribat unlike English the plural form also applies to adjectives and not just nouns so we're going to take our same rule that we had for the nouns but now we are talking about adjectives it's the same rule where we're going to where we are going to be adding lifta to the end of the word and make it plural adjective again this also applies to feminine words so let's take few examples now Jamila which means beautiful add the alfta Jamila remember we augmented the last letter which is Tamar of this word jamilat another example the Kia which means smart now let's put together what we learned about making plural nouns and plural adjectives we're going to start off by explaining this in English so you can see how the difference is in Arabic our example is going to be beautiful Muslim if we were to make this plural in English we would say beautiful Muslims notice how the is only added to the word Muslim the adjective beautiful is not transformed into plural form now let's translate this to Arabic beautiful Muslim is muslima Jamila now we're going to turn it into the plural form it'd be muslimat jamilat notice how unlike English the noun and the adjective are put in the plural form and now we're going to be talking about Jamar muda karsalem the sound masculine plurals which apply to masculine words these also have rule which they follow where we have noun and we will add letters to the end of the noun so the rule is we're going to take the singular masculine noun and according to its position in the sentence whether it is nominative case or an accusative and genitive case we are going to add wow noon in the case of nominative and yeah noon if it is accusative or genitive if you don't know what these cases are it's okay you can just add either while noon or yeah noon and your Grammar might be little wrong but you did turn it into plural form so we're going to start with few examples Muslim here we are referring to male Muslim the female Muslim was muslima and the male Muslim is Muslim we're going to add it to the wow noon at the end of the word making it Muslim Moon and if it was thin the accusative or genitive case we would add yanun and make it muslimin another example male teacher at the wow noon Limon or at the mean and our final example lab male player add the wow noon to the end or add the yanoon to the end the same thing applies to Jama mudakar Salem we can make the noun plural and we can also make the adjective form plural so again with our Rule now we are simply talking about adjectives it's the same rule at wow noon or yanoon which means diligent or yanoon another example which means persistent now again let's take what we learned and actually put it into action we are going to be talking about noun and describing it by an adjective in the singular form and in the plural form so our example is going to be diligent teacher to make this plural in English we would say diligent teachers the plural form is applied only to the noun in English we do not turn the adjective into plural form now let's translate this into Arabic diligent teacher would be and to make this into the plural form we are going to transform both the noun and the adjective into the plural form making it and for our final pattern of the plurals in Arabic it is or broken plurals are sometimes called irregular plurals irregular plurals do not follow any rules and unfortunately you must just know how the plural form of these words are these words usually do follow some patterns however don't recommend you memorize the patterns and instead just memorize how the plural form for each word is there are so many patterns that it's not efficient for you to memorize the patterns personally don't even have all the patterns memorized just know how the plural form of the word is however for the sake of completion in this video will show you some patterns for example this is pattern where it is on the weight of the word this is single form of the word word for example Talib we would change it to the LOB tajir would be to jar you can see that they kind of are the same when you pronounce it love to Judd however it's not that this rule applies to every word and it doesn't matter if the word is feminine or masculine it could have broken plural another pattern would be this one which is another one would be nejum bait another and there are many many more patterns and this is why really don't recommend you memorize the patterns simply easier for you to know what the single form and the plural form of the word is now to summarize what we learned in this video we were learning about the plurals in Arabic and we know that there are three types of plurals there is German taxir which is the broken plurals and these words they are irregular the other type of plurals was the sound feminine plurals and this did follow rule where we add lift hat to the end of the word the other type of plurals wasallim or the sound masculine plurals and this also followed rule where we added the letters wow noon or ya noon to the end of the word now to put what we learned to the test we're going to have short quiz these are words and they are all in the plural form want you to tell me which type of plurals they are here is the summarization of our video if you'd like to refer to it and these are the plural words so take moment if you'd like pause the video think about which type of plurals each word is we're going to be starting the Arabic way from the right to left so we're going to be starting with this word so if you'd like more time to think please do pause the video so now we're going to be starting with the first word which is massage it or mosques well this word didn't follow any of the rules that we had it's not having an elephant at the end and it's not having noon or yanoon at the end this is going to be gematics here or broken plural akalam pens again doesn't follow any of the rules which we learned of and so seems irregular Jamaica we can see that this word ends with the game at the end so this is most likely going to be like yep farmers again this word ends with yanoon so it's going to be Jamar muda karsalem plants this follows the role of Salem what again lift hat at the end generation series not having any of the rules we learned of so it's going to be Jamaica Salim at Ely thank you for watching this video if you found it useful please do subscribe like share comment on this video and let me know did you answer correctly did you find this video useful I'd love to hear from you thank you see you next
