Are Holographic Fans Worth It

That tech with YouTube, big YouTube logo. This is the test. So, how did these two fans look with 24 frames second? Will it work in my office is the big question we need to answer. So, of course, half of this is going to be monitoring the my monitor, but then taking the footage and checking it out in post. And of course, the audio. How's the audio coming through? and how can treat that audio with the fans in the background. So, as look at the monitor right here, can see the big one, there's line going around here, and the little one, there's quicker line going around. So, this is at 24 frames second. We're going to try maybe 30, but certainly 60 and 120. Probably can't really practically shoot in my office with at them frame rates, but certainly between 24 and 30 frames second. So, the idea is to possibly have logo like this in the background. As I'm here, weirdly enough, I'll see how it again it comes through after I've treated the audio, but this one sounds like lower pitch than this one. So, this one might work better. But the idea, what would like to do is my light feature have in the back, the goi light, which is like the hexagons in shape. If could put one of these in the middle and have logo, rotating logo, something that would actually work. So far, that's what we've got. That's what it looks like. So, let's try different frame rate. We're now at 30 frames second. So, can see more lines on this one and line on that one. So, it's possibility. Let's flick through couple of these. Just like that. Looks good. So, for logo, you might get away with less lines. So, I'm not saying would want my face there behind my head in my studio, but that's what it would look like at least. So, let's try 60 frames second. 60 frames second. So, that's clearly more to it going on there, but again, that's just how it's coming through on my monitor. And again, wouldn't shoot at 60 frames second if was doing talking head stuff, but really, it's just to see. So, let's crank it up to 120. 4K 120. Probably unusable. So clearly the lower frame rates are better. Back to 24. See how simply can mount the small one. The mount on this one's little bit bigger because it's bigger motor. was just thinking might touch it by accident. Definitely don't touch these things, by the way, FYI. Especially if I'm mounting it in in the back of my shot. Then don't want to put whole bunch of holes behind my studio where this is going to live. Either way, got to figure it out. Next is the installation. Clearly, I've done it twice, but it's going to be an insulation upstairs. Let's see how that goes. Okay. So, that is the idea right there. And again, the question is, how is it going to look with the actual light behind it? So, think that one's little bit too close for my liking to the panel. This one definitely sticks out more. So, think this is going to be winner right here. So, now it's just case of getting power to it and then we'll see exactly how it looks on video and we'll get the studio set tidied up and set back up the way it normally is. We'll fire it up and we'll play around on the app and see what looks good, how it looks good on camera and if that's going to be permanent fixture there. But again, cool technology, but let's see if we can integrate it into the studio setup. So, let's see how that looks. have power. Okay, so there's my face and then also I'm shooting at 24. So let's switch it over to 30 and see how that looks. And there's 30 frames second. think 24 is probably better. Is it distracting the background? think from what my monitor is looking at, probably yes. So I'll dial it back to 24. The second thing is audio. So I've got my lav mic right here. And how can adjust how well can adjust the audio to cut out the fan noise? Can you hear it? Can you not hear it? Question. Typically, when I'm here, I'm using this thing. So, let's turn this on. I'm going to go back to 24 frames second. And I'm going to record onto my mic here. So, this is now audio coming from my mic. And this is my usual setup. So, I've got my beautiful face right there. So, when it's something simple like words, that could be very easy way of just having dad tech up there and doing its thing. And you wouldn't even know the thumb was there cuz you can't even see it. And there is some software that want to play around with. So for now, we'll say it's mounted. We'll say somewhat works. have to play around with the lighting setup because it's all I've moved my lighting around to try and light the back, but get it in position where would be if was shooting, see how the audio is, see what design can play around with. There is some software, like said, maybe create custom logo and then and then does it stay or does it go? But so far that could very well work. We've got them installed. We've done couple of tests and at this point we got them both running. So, first time I've had them up and going with the mic and the camera set up and the lights all set up in the correct scenario. So, we'll see how this looks. Can we get the sound out? because there is quite significant amount of sound coming through at least from my ears. So, can see how much can get that out of the mic. So, we'll just do test here. will say this is me with my voice with the the audio adjusted and played around with and then here it is unfiltered. So, don't know how that comes through. We'll soon find out when we all listen to this. The noise, the ambient noise that it generates. Now, let's even do this. We'll turn off this one. And that's just on the background. And from what could tell on this one when it's on, you'll find, or at least from what could see on my monitor is it looks like there's little bit more flickering going on. In person, you can barely see that, but in over the camera, 24 frames second, you can clearly see it, believe. And again, I'll have to look back in the footage and test it. But that's with that one off. So, with that one as believe not being ideal for this video setting at this point, this one should be good enough. can see tiny bit of movement as something sinking up there with the fan rotation, but believe with the noise of this one being actually little bit less than the one right next to me, as well as it looking pretty decent, think, on camera and in person, it looks absolutely great. So, as you can see how they look, believe this one's going to be keeper for me, and maybe it's not this one. But again, it all depends on how it looks. If pull this into the editing software on my computer and everything just looks seamless and can get the audio where want it to be, what am going to do? I'm not going to change thing. I'm going to have them both up. I'm going to have them both on. think that looks kind of cool right there. If the flickering isn't thing, was kind of nervous of putting this up here cuz the the anchoring points have to be pretty beefy cuz the motors on it are pretty beefy and the torque on it is pretty beefy. that just went into the kind of the really flat wood and have no issues putting that anywhere really and it being perfectly fine. But that one is kind of nervous. So, they're up. We've tested them. Now, I've just got to see how everything looks and very impressive technology. you can kind of see how it might work for say store to have something like this up and running and be very cool interesting advertisement board almost with that you can put anything on there and kind of draw attention. Now, I'll I'll refer back to where first came across this technology. We had seen it around online little bit, but in reality when we went to CES, there was company there, don't know what the company's name was, and I'll put some footage of it, where they had many of these put together, they were in metal cases, they had sound and audio coming from them. So, basically had like holographic person in front of you who could kind of interact. and they had it programmed really well. So obviously the technology for this stuff is very it's very much there where you can almost have like the hologram the holographic look to things. and then the the glass kind of took away the noise and the you know the danger of somebody sticking their hand in there and and hurting something or damaging something. So was very impressed with that and there was holograms everywhere. It looked fantastic. Now at this point being able to play with it and use it and utilize it for for for dad tech and for my own stuff. love the way it looks and and how it how you can interact with it and and how it looks 3D and you can make 3D models. So, very cool technology. So, I'd highly recommend the link will be in the description below for for these fans. The bigger one obviously for this purpose is is is great. Probably higher RPMs to to get the fans up faster so that it it looks little bit better on video. This one obviously maybe is not from as far as can tell. but in person, yes, like it and I'm excited to use this one lot more. So, if you have any questions about this technology, let me know.
