welcome to another video looking at themes and challenges for legal studies syllabus today we're looking at the theme of culture values and ethics this has two main components to it first of all the extent to which law reflects the culture and values of different societies and groups within society and secondly the importance of ethics in the functioning of society first up the extent to which the law reflects the culture and values of different societies and groups within that side note that term extent so we're looking at how much or how accurately the law reflects both the culture and the values of different groups within our societies way you could do this is by looking at real life scenarios and asking yourself questions like does the law treat this group in the same way as another group or would this group actually understand what the law is trying to get up in this scenario next we have the importance of ethics in the functioning of society remember ethics are basically society's agreed-upon morals and standards towards appropriate or not we can therefore see many scenarios where ethics plays an important and crucial role in how society actually works or not and the theme of culture values and ethics therefore runs completely through every aspect of the Legal Studies course if you found this video informative well there's five more videos of the different themes and challenges that we find and the Legal Studies syllabus you can check that out or many other legal studies videos at my channel Wimbledon
