Welcome back to English Lit. Now, the second lesson on poetic terms also related to repetition. and now in this lesson we will study words or literary terms that are related to the repetition of single word which is normally to emphasize certain meaning. The first poetic term for this lesson is epanalepsis. This one is an immediate back-to-back repetition with no words in between of certain word. So, in this example we see the word break, break, break on thy cold gray stones, sea. So, in this line we see the repetition of the word break three times back-to-back without any words in the middle. So, this immediate repetition of the same word is called epanalepsis. So, after epanalepsis we have diacope. This is also repetition of phrase or word but this time, unlike the previous one, we have word or two in between the this repetition. So, to be or not to be. So, we have the repetition of to be but they are not back-to-back. There are two words between the repeated words. Now, with ploce. Let me read the example first and mark in every face meet marks of weakness, marks of woe. So, ploce is keyword reoccurring across passage for cumulative weight. So, this is keyword repeated in the poem. So, it's not like back-to-back or at the beginning or at the end. It's an important word or keyword that is repeated many times throughout the poem. Epanalepsis it's the insistent dwelling on single phrase returned to again and again. So, the previous one we said repeated keyword. Here, repeated single phrase. Let's read the example. So are they all all honorable men and Brutus is an honorable man. So, here epanaphora is the single phrase that is repeated or returned to in the same poem. Conduplicatio is the next poetic term. Here, we pick up keyword from the previous line or the previous clause and we repeat it. Let's go with this example. They fought for freedom. Freedom was the price. So, the word freedom we took it from the previous phrase or from the previous line and we use it again in the very next line. This repetition is called conduplicatio. So, let's recap. We learned in this lesson five poetic terms all related to the repetition of certain word or phrase to emphasize certain meaning or certain issue or to highlight the importance of something. So, here you have the transcription of these poetic terms to make pronunciation easier. So, the first one epizeuxis epizeuxis, this one is the repetition of word repeated back-to-back without any words in between. The word and then directly repeated once again. diacope diacope, this one we have also the same word repeated in the same line but with two words or one word in between. So, we have here one or two words between the repeated words. And for the third one ploce we have keyword that is repeated throughout the poem. And we have epimone which is the repetition of single phrase or we return to this phrase many times in certain poem. And we have the last one, the fifth one which is conduplicatio conduplicatio which is as mentioned word that we used in certain line and then we repeated this word in the next line. So, it's the repetition of certain word from previous line in poem. hope this was useful. in the next lesson, we will continue with repetition but now with variation and wordplay within poem. See you in the next lesson. It's not game, Tyler. Mhm.
